Lovely man and he gave us a full hour. No joy but I needed the app to put my mind at ease.

We've been seeing Jamie Taylor who is a very reputable Osteopath here in Palmy. His waiting list is 2 months but he fits sick babies in where ever he can. We see him a couple of times a week and have been since she was a couple of weeks old. It really does help and she takes good feeds afterwards which helps stop her dehydration problems.

So, still not results on what's up with little madam and he could only say that she will probably grow out of it at some stage.........

    Author: KiwiL
Subject: 25573
Posted: 31 March 2009 at 9:25pm

Honestly, after being in the public system for weeks, I say definately go private. It's been bloody awful. Most of the time you only deal with a registrar, which means everything comes third hand. Having languished in the system for a month, I regret not just booking private to start with.

I sent a desperate email to my consultant paed three days ago asking for more ideas and got his reply today: "I think we've tried everything. I'll see you next month. Sorry." Couldn't believe it.

Anyway, Vaughan Richardson is supposed to be THE man to see... we are finally seeing him next Wednesday. I agree that by paying someone to care, they actually have to care. At least you can make some demands when you're paying for their services. My GP, another GP both rave about Vaughan, and I personally know his partner paediatrician (who does babies under 6 weeks), who is also highly thought of.

He can be contacted on 04 3852658. He only does private consults on Wednesdays. It took us 4 weeks to get an appointment BUT that was because he has been on leave for two weeks. Cost is $200 initially, and then $100 per follow up.

I am happy to let you know what he was like so you have an idea before you see him.

The problem is that the public system is set up for acute patients... not chronic ones like our babies. The one time I got super efficient service (two xrays and an ultrasound in the middle of the night) was when we turned up in the ED with Jackson vomiting green bile. Everything else I have got from my paed has been at my own suggestion.

Good luck hun! I know what it feels like to be banging your head against walls. I finally got diagnosed with depression today. I wouldn't be depressed if someone actually gave half a rat's ass about my boy.

Edited by kiwilaurie

We go to an Osteopath and have tried natural remedies right from the get go. We've tried the allergy formulas and are now giving Goats milk a go.

The reason I need to ped is because we have tried everything, been to dozens of doc appointments and she is still awake and squirming for 14-16 hours a day straight.

Didn't realise that had doc's at the palms Babe so have booked in to see them on Thursday. The hospital have come through and we have a double app with the ped tomorrow morning. I'll be keeping both appointments to cover as many bases as possible.

But i avoided the medical side of things as they are always so fast to prescibe unnecessary drugs. We went to a Craniosacral therapist and it helped soooooo much. try an alternative treatment before rushing to the drs. Just because they are private doesn't mean they are any different than public. My gran is seeing a private specialists for her eyes and hes sooo friggin useless hes failed to diagnose cataracts so big in her eye till recently that they can't operate now. and my husband is getting the run around from a specialist too. all medical drs are useless in my eyes but some people aren't open to alternative options. at the end of the day the choice is yours

Turns out he had mean reflux but he wasn't spilling so it wasn't obvious. The first doc I went to said first that I was overfeeding him, then suggested I was doing something to him stupid beeyatch!!!
I went to The Palms and booked in with their peds doctor who was fantastic and prescribed losec immediately. The next day Jake went down for a 3 hr nap for the first time in weeks and I sat down and cried with relief lol theres a website if you want to check her symptoms - www.cryingoverspiltmilk.co.nz
Jake didn't have all the symptoms by any means and your girl might not either but maybe worth checking it out for Madelyn???
