I refused to wear white ones so normally went for pink and wore flowers in my hair. Like Arohanui said - use nappy pins rather than trying to tie it, and wear a singlet underneath for modesty if you are worried (although "international rules" at Uni means no underwear allowed!!)

You can get plastic flowers for a head garland from the $2 shop or spotlight.

It was cheaper (and closer lol) to buy some fabric from Arthur Toy than it was to go to the Warehouse and buy a sheet..

I can't really remember how we all put them together but everyone did it differenty. Mine was black (way more flattering than white) and I think I just wrapped it round myself then pinned the top? Boxers and a boob tube underneath = sorted

If you like crafty stuff, sewing something a bit more "fitted" to you sounds like a good idea to me!

We used flax to tie everything on, more indian than greek but you could use similar materials.

    Author: emz
Subject: 25591
Posted: 31 March 2009 at 1:35pm

HELP!

I have my little cousins 21st on Saturday night, theme is toga/greek costume.

So I googled it, and the first thing it says is DON'T USE A SHEET

WTF?! Seriously?

So anyway I tried it with a sheet and I can see why they say not to. Really bulky and unflattering (I want to look like a pregnant greek goddess, not a blimp!)

But... we are on a budget. Going to buy some rope to tie around our waists (or under my bust probably) and was thinking maybe buying material and actually stitching together greek costumes instead of togas might be a cheap idea? As the only single sheets we have have cars or moons and stars on them

So... advice please! If you've been to one, what did you wear? How did you make it? Accessories?

We cannot and will not hire anything, can't afford to spend more than $20-30 all up for both our costumes. 2 single sheets will cost us $16 from TWH. Fabric is $10 a metre at spotlight. Thought I could possibly get away with only using a bit if I made costumes instead of wearing togas.

HELP! I don't DO fancy dress lol
