I am learning with the tightening of the purse strings being on lower $$ at the moment I think I will be ready for when I have no $$.

The way the job market is I hope everything will work out in the end. I still have some time to think about it, but I would like to start July this year.

I study fulltime, DH works fulltime, we get WWF and Accomodation Sup, I also get the $155 living costs. Kahtrell is in daycare fulltime, he's booked in for enough hours that the WINZ subsidy pays for the total cost, so I pay nothing in daycare costs. Definitely doable, just means being a little stricter on the purse strings, but we're still able to do things as well. My DH studies fulltime and I work (although soon we will have no income lol .. lucky ive managed to save enough to tide us over till I return).

Anyway I digress. We manage fine .. we dont qualify for any assistance .. but DH can "borrow" a living component as part of his student loan which is $155 a week so that will come in handy when we go from one to no income.

Obviously when we go to no income we will qualify for an accomodation supplement .. so depending on your partners income I wouldnt think it would be hard to cope on one income (even with kids).

Oh .. we dont pay for childcare though .. that makes a big difference. Midwifery has to be completed within 4 years, so often those who are wanting to do some part time study do the first year over two years (part time) and the remaining 2 full time.

Hey im also studying part time and rest of the time home with my little boy. We also get WFF and an accom supplement and we survive week to week and our little boy doesnt go without anything. We also have money left over after bills are paid to go out or save etc. As im part time this year i dont qualify for the living costs or allowance.

Hi,

I'm currently studying midwifery full time and its fantastic.

My partner works full time and we get WFF and accomodation supplement. We are entitled to student allowance but you lose your in work tax credit if you get that and it also boosts your income level so you lose more WFF and accom supplement. For us we would gain $66 in allowance but lose about $90 so it wasn't worth it for us but it may possibly we worth it for you guys.

You can also get student loan living costs up to $155 but you have to pay them back and if you get an allowance you can only get it topped up to $155.

Depending on your DHs income you can also get up to 50 hours of subsidised childcare. We get the full subsidy and childcare for both my kids is $23 a week.

I'm a first year student midwife (full time) and it's awesome!

Can't really help you on the financial stuff as DH and I have no kids, so we are OK on just his earnings.

Hi there.

Depending on combined income, may qualify for WFF or something from WINZ  You have to apply separately, WFF is IRD & WINZ is separate altoghter.

Evening all,

I am in the process of potentally quitting work and studying Midwifery full time.

The only worry I have is no income.

Is there anyone else here who studies full time and DH or DP work full time and manage to survive from week to week??

I know there is some financial support out there I am just hoping I will be able to get it.
