24 hours on, she is not happy to take the dummy when she has wind and it was hard work to get her to take it when she had hiccups and was spilling today. I've found though that if she feeds, burps, falls asleep, wakes up 10 mins later for another burp... then she wants to resettle back to sleep with another feed. Seeing you brought this up, tonight I tried to settle Cooper after a feed without the dummy & then with the dummy.

He got wound up with out the dummy & wouldn't burp & was doing all the swallowing thing. Even sitting up right didn't help. He was making sounds like Mum I need it! Put the dummy in & he stopped the swallowing & then mini burps started coming up & then the big one that was hurting him. Dummy didn't come out until he didnt need it again.

Certainly worth a try. As the others have said the more our little one got upset the harder it was for her to bring up wind. Once she was calmer the wind would generally come up...generally.
The burping and wind issue seemed to have improved though now that she is a bit older.

Isobelle gets very upset with wind too and I find that the more stressed she gets the longer it takes to get the wind up. The dummy works a treat at calming her down and usually within the next few minutes she will start burping. My Mum noticed Heidi was swallowing all the time and then wincing, she ended up having silent reflux. At first we thought it was just wind. Took awhile to get Heidi to take the dummy, but it was a lifesaver and now at almost 4 months she is addicted to it so we are about to get rid of it EEEEKKKKK!

The reflux and wind problems we have had with Kyle the dummy has helped with. I would sit him upright pop the dummy in and he would suck and burp. Also he hasn't spilled much but I could hear wet burp noises and he would wimper with them. I found that when Caden was very little and had colic a dummy would help settle him down. what we found was that he would get even more colicky from crying and gulping down air, but with the dummy he would happily suck on it and calm down so we could help him get his wind up.
He would just burp with the dummy in or it would fly out of his mouth and we put it back in.

Hmmm, it's a hard one, but if it helps, refluxy babies often also have wind probs. I used to be able to hear my babies refluxing, even lil miss who is a mostly silent refluxer.

Maybe get your GP to check her out and see what he/she thinks.

Our little Kaela gets herself very upset over wind and it's taking ages to settle her in between feeds and part-feeds for a sake of a burp! I'm thinking of getting her a dummy to help settle her more easily when she has wind. Am I on the right track here or do burpy babies not like to suckle until the burp is out?
