You can make out things just around it but it doesn't light the room :) Its great if you have a light sleeper in a cot as you can place it at the other end of room and it wouldn't resonate far at all :)]]>

Although admittedly, any cheaper thermometer would do the same job. DH took some convincing when I bought one for Sam and now he loves it!
