Grommets aren't the end of the world (I should know, I'm pretty much an expert - Mercedes has had three sets and Sienna has had two ). Before grommets they had continuous ear infections, Sienna's hearing was badly affected and they had to have their ears drained all the time as they just gushed gunk. Post-grommets they have been so much better.

What drops did they give you? Ciproxin HC is the best for persistent infection, but they aren't subsidised so are around $40. Otherwise, Maxitrol is subsidised and is fairly good, better than the Sofradex that is usually prescribed by GPs.

Best of luck with ENT, I hope his poor wee ear clears up quickly . I find a combination of pamol and kids nurofen works best when my girls' ears are bad. I've heard that soy has a lot of estrogen in it. There are other types of milk you could try. Not good I was right, his ear is no better despite having antibiotics and drops. Hes referred us to the Ear, Eye and Throat (?) Dept, he said he cant see his eardrum and they will need to clear it. He said worse case scenario we are looking at Grommits

Bizzy thanks for that info - So with Soya Milk, what type should I be giving Jackson? Do they make it as a formula? Well, I took him. There were 25 people waiting so have been sent home and shes going to call me when its quiet again. Have just had to put him to bed. Nurse agreed he should be better by now, and that Jackson knocking into the walls and falling over is all to do with the middle ear infection. Might have to wait till the morning.

I was told it by a nathuropath, cutting it out definitely made a huge difference in the amount of ear wax Alia had. Good thing is that there is a noticable difference in a couple of days.

Do you feed him peanut butter? If you do, stop giving it to him, it causes wax build up & can bring on glue ear.

How is he? Is he better than when it was red or still the same?

I would go with your gut feeling. Does your after hours normally take ages?

Jackson was diagnosed with a really bad ear infection on Thursday (Said it was border line "glue ear") have been giving him antibiotics as well as some sort of drops several times a day for his ear.

Over the past few days his ear and the area along his jawline is becoming really red and inflammed. I called plunket before and they said he needs to be seen within 4 hours, as the antibiotics might not be working.
Looked at his ear before and now the redness has completely disappeared Im trying to figure out whether its to do with the drops that I am giving him, because his ear went pink not long after I gave them to him. The pinkness was coming and going over the easter break as well.

So, should I wait it out to the morning? Just the thought of waiting in line all night for nothing is really not my idea of fun.
