oh going by what Kelly said i think it mean babies back to my back???

LOA and LOL can be quite hard to establish the difference and a lot of the time baby might just be in between them both. the most favourable positions are the LOA /LOL and ROA /ROL posititions as they allow the head to descend firmly into the pelvis and press onto the cervix , which encourages it to dilate, however, LOP and ROP positions often turn into LOA and ROA positions just before or during labour .

and what they mean issssss....

LOA =Left Occipito anterior, the back of babys head (occiput) is to the left within the mothers pelvis (therefore so is the babies back ) and angled slightly towards the front (anterior ) of the mother

ROA =right occiptio anterior , meaning that the head is to the right within mums pelvis, angled at front

LOL=Left occipito lateral , meaning the head is to the left within mums pelvis , with the back on the left side of mum

ROL=right occiput lateral , meaning that the head is to the right within mums pelvis , with the back on the right side of mum

LOP=left occipito posterior , meaning the head is to the left within mums pelvis and angled towards the back

Left is ideal as babys tend to turn clockwise in labour. When baby comes out he/she will have their back directly out the front (ideally). Right is still good though and to be honest they are still discovering how much babys actually turn in labour. ok so obviously its head down but i cant for the life of me remember the rest!!! like which side their back is facing or which way they are "looking".....

I was going over Astins notes and his back was ALWAYS on my right (so left if your looking at me!) but this baby has been breech then off to my right once and then on my left for the rest of the time and i can now feel myself without MW as to where bubs is laying so i know its almost always off the my left...
