It's a sign of both. My boy pulls on his ear for comfort. His ear is like his comfort blanket. I have to keep his nails short or he scratches himself to peices while he full asleep. It cute he starts out all rough but as he fulls asleep he gently strokes his ear. IMO your doctor is nuts! Jack's paediatric team at the hospital ask my questions like 'is he pulling his ears' etc and if he is they check for signs of ear, nose or throat issues.

The ear pulling can be a lot of things. A tired sign, or a sore ear related to teething as well. Lil miss pulls on her ears when she's tired or grouchy, and sometimes just coz she can. I'm paranoid about ears after all the problems the gremlins have had, but her ears are fine.

It could be anything, however it is usually a sign of sore ears. Best you get them checked as ears aren't something I would risk (having had 2 go through grommet surgeries).

Hi,

Is ear pulling always a sign of teething, or is it ever a sign of something else?

I just noticed today DS is pulling one ear, I think it is teething, he's grumpy, drooling etc etc and I can see the bottom teeth but they haven't come through the gums yet.
