She never suffered.<br /><br />Also on that sterlising business...in my opinion people these days tend to go a wee bit anal about being "clean" and disinfecting stuff. Kids need a few germs and bugs to build up their immune systems!<br /><br />Cant be kept in a cotton bubble all their lives!<br /><br />(I have only taken on this opinion in the last 2 years tho since Paige has been at school)<br /><br />]]>

I have a bucket of napisan that I just throw things into during the day - then at night I throw it all into the machine for a wash.     <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=425">mum2paris</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 2660<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 01 June 2006 at 9:55pm<br /><br />oooh and most of the time, it recommends that putting stuff on the line in sunlight after washing.. stuff like napisan says that etc.. . re reason behind that is that the sunlight sets off the final phase of the chemicals in the washing powder which disolves the stains.. try sticking a nice white cloth nappy with the lovely yellow baby poo stain on it.. in some napisan to soak, if you stick it to dry inside on a clothes hanger, then chances are, it will still have alittle yellowy icky mark on it, not really noticable but still. if you stick it out in the sunlight, you will get a nice white nappy with no sign of poo. <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0"> ]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=425">mum2paris</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 2660<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 01 June 2006 at 9:50pm<br /><br />We just chucked all the bubba clothes into the washing machine on the gentle wash, with a tiny bit of washing powder, on cold, we use cold power, just a normal washing powder. and then hung them out to dry in the sun. the dryer is fine also as long as it's not wooly, just be careful not to stick the stretchy cotton suttf in with fleecy stuf and vice vera cos otherwise you get fluff all over stuff. but we just washed them as normal, and for the first few weeks of Ayja's life we stuck her washing in separate loads, cos she went thru so damn much that we could make a load a day, or at least a half one. After that, we just chucked them in with our usual wash and she's been fine. We did try persil sensitive, but go figure, she reacted to it. I figure, if you start off the way you intend to continue you won't end up with a baby reacting to stuff when you introduce it later... some babies react to lots of stuff no matter what, others don't at all, but all babies get some sort of hormonal spots, scaly skin, red icky bits in the first few weeks somewhere on their body... rest assured 9 times out of 10, it isn't directly related to the washing powder or their clothes.<br /><br />wash how you want to wash.<img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0"> ]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=16243">stevie_88</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 2660<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 01 June 2006 at 4:07pm<br /><br />My step mum used LUX SOAP FLAKES- they are a washing powder flake but soft!!! <br />She said she'd get a small cup full and add a bit of water to that and mixed it up before putting it in the washing machine and the clothes, nappies etc came out really nice.<br />Don't over use the flakes though as you can get that really soapy feeling- like when you use alot of powder and softner.<br />No need for softner as it might cause the bub to react to it and alot of soap powders aren't as good as LUX or NAPPISAN...<br />So there ya go... <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0"> She's had 4 boys and they've survived haha so I might try her trick.]]>

Just wash them like normal before they wear them and dry however you normally dry. I use either Ecostore or Next Generation, but any powder is fine. ]]>

(my brother learned that one the hard way and his daughter was quite colouful looking for the first few months!)<br />we just used persil on ella's stuff when she was born and she had no probs with skin reactions. like nikki said though, i used half of what they reccomend when washing her stuff for the first 6 months or so.]]>

I just washed a whole heap of stuff, mostly to get the musty shop smell out of the new stuff and with the hand-me-downs I wanted to make sure there was no powder residue from the last person so I washed them in Eco Store powder (says it removes residue - yes I believe everything I read&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;LOL)]]>
