Well i got one on HP from DTR.
We are going to pay it off in 8 months and only have $120 in interest! I think thats a great deal! We cant be without a fridge, we are not broke broke we just dont have savings. We live week to week.

Also with getting this HP and paying if off early will give me good credit, which is what i want.

Gotta say I agree with the others about just not having a fridge short term, honestly if you used the outside cold weather to keep things chilled you will be right. It is possible and I have done it before, I think I lived for a week without a fridge and it was not the end of the world truly. Short term fix only obviously.
Or like people are saying why don't you see if you can borrow one from someone, heaps of people have beer fridges.
We got a wee fridge for bar drinks from kmart for maybe $200 and it actually fits a lot of stuff in it -we have been having to use it as the big fridge was playing up.

Yeah I was going to suggest renting as well. What about renting one till you can afford to buy one out right. www.Appliances4Rent.co.nz     If you go to DTR you will end up paying for two fridges pretty much which to me seems ridiculous. Just because they will give you finance doesn't mean you should do it. Listen to what people are saying on here. I know you think you need to buy a new one but if you already have debt why get more. You'll only get yourself deeper in the poo.
In regards to the locks have you cleaned the fridge properly with alcohol wipes or meths? I "think" they can give out loans for urgent/necessary family items, regardless of whether you are on a benefit or not? I think its called the recoverable assistance or something like that.

I wonder if there is anyone from here in CHCH that may have a 2nd fridge/beer fridge that they could lend you for a couple of months? Then you could sell the old one on TM (obviously stating it needs new seals) and save up a bit of money to buy a better one. You could try selling your old one on TM (obviously be honest about the issues with it) that could raise a bit of cash to buy a smaller 2nd hand one off TM that works?

DTR are mongrels. They prey on unfortunate people and you will regret it in the long run!

You can live without a fridge/freezer short term, I did for a month or so back in my student days. Just buy small quantities of stuff and go to the supermarket most days. Plus it is a bonus it is winter because you can keep milk cold outside!

BooBoo we have just got home from Smiths city, they said no. If i can pay off the fridge over a 12 month period the interest is only about $200.

I bought my old one off trade me, its the only option i have, i dont have the money to go to a second hand store to buy one and i dont have the money to even get one off trade me. I dont have any savings and just used my last $300 fixing my car yesterday.

I would love to aviod DTR but it seems like my only option. The freezer had defrosted all our food again and there is water everywhere.

Stacey, they are the ones i have but they are not working. We had three on. They just peel off and the freezer opens.

Smiths City said untill all my debt is paid they wont give me finance, i only have about $700 to go.

With those kiddy locks we have these and they stick to our fridge which has similar problems. They are on really tight, Daniel yanks at them like crazy when he wants to get in the fridge and they are still sticking months later. May be worth a shot if you haven't tried those ones, the surface just has to be clean before you put them on and let them stick for a day before you start using them. Or trying the likes of Smiths City - if your bad credit was from when you were younger and you have sucessfully paid things off since - I am sure Smiths City will give you finanace for it.

My SIL has REALLY bad credit and she got something from Powerstore a while ago - maybe worth a try?

Where did you buy your old one from? We have those kiddy locks already, but they keep popping off, like the sticky stuff comes unstuck, because the door has to be closed tight since the seals dont work otherwise it will just defrost everything at the front of the fridge.

My contents has a free replacement of home appliances if under 10 years old, but im sure its older that 10 years. What about the kiddy fridge locks to make sure the door stays closed? DTR will give you credit because they charge the earth for it. Yeah i was thinking about that but i dont have the money to just go and buy another one hence the HP. I usually just save up and buy them. Im waiting for my childcare rebate to come in so hopefully i can use that, if the fridge lasts that long.

I was thinking, i have spent $200 on this one and its lasted like 2 months, what if i go spend another $200 on one that lasts 5 months buy the time im done buying second hand ones i could have gone and bought a brand new $800 dollar one and paid it off.

Nothing to do with DTR interest, but have you thought about replaceing the seals rather than buying a whole new fridge/freezer? There's a place that advertises on telly, but can't remember what they are called. Will let you know if it comes to me.

Ok so i worked that out and holy (Insert swear word here) Almost the cost of the fridge freezer twice over.. Im going to 12 months and then its only $200 in interest and fees..

I'm not sure what the current interest rate is, it changes but they should be able to tell you what it is if you give them a call.

I've done some rough calculations tho and they have a Simpson 5.5kg washer in their catalogue for $7.50 a week, which works out at a total cost of $1257. Does anyone know the interest rate they charge?

We are in desperate need of a new fridge freezer, our food has been defrosted 3 times now because the seals are so bad anything pushes it open, and sometimes it pops open. Also it defrosts itself all the time and water goes everywhere.

I was an idiot when i was younger and have bad credit so the only place that would give me finance is DTR as they seen iv paid off a good chunk of it and he said since iv done that they are happy to help me out.

Iv been told they have a really high interest rate,., Just want to know what it is.
