I'm with Paws, things started out with what I would have called twitches more than flutters... and it was ages before I really noticed, and knew it wasn't just gas ! I hate to say it but I had a good chuckle at the idea of kicking the midwife to see if SHE felt it. I mean, the nerve of her to say something like that, but then not reassure you or explain or whatever !? Sometimes *ahem* gas in your tummy/intestines can feel like baby kicks. It's funny when you've actually had babe and something like that happens and you are instantly reminded of baby kicks.

So it could be that??? or it might very well be kicks?!?

But anyway, don't fret about it. It's probably more likely that you have felt flutters without even registering what they were.

It'll be no time at all before you are begging the little demon to quieten down in there

i've only started feeling this bubs kick in the last couple of weeks. they are definate kicks, not flutters. i did get the fluttering movements early on with jack (17wks) but not this time.

Honestly Frantic Darling. I really wouldn't worry about it. Not one person is the same and you really don't know the exact position of your placenta either.

I have an anterior placenta too but our bubs has very long legs (as per scan comments haha) so I get alot of kicks in my side or ribs which I can feel but none anywhere else except for what feels like the odd elbow.

yeh i never really got the flutters. I think I was 24 weeks when I first felt little thuds. Frantic - I never felt flutters either    It started off feeling like someone was running their finger very gently along my abdomon then progressed to little thuds generally in the same spot. Sometimes it even felt like a twitch. Now that she is bigger she must punch and kick at the same time as I feel boots at opposite sides at the same time and my tummy looks like a rollercoaster is going on inside!!

I had heaps of flutters, which have now progressed to good old boots, but with Maya I don't remember the flutters so much, I remember the exact moment I first felt her kick, and it was very definite.

It was about the 23 week mark that I started feeling little flutters and then slowly feeling kicks start. I wouldn't worry to much about it- you know what you're feeling. I'd kick the MW and ask her- DID you feel that??? (sorry i am so mad at the moment and fed up with the MIL and MW's and GP's)
Now I wake up to kicking and movement and a whole football game happening inside. Somethign that has been bo9thering me - the other day I saw a midwife (filling in for my regular midwife who is away on holiday) and she asked about movements. I said I only startign feelign them recently (I have an anterior placenta) and that the movements were like kicks from inside...and she looked at me really strangely and she said "no like flutters, have you felt those?" and i said no, i have never felt any soft movemetns, but a few times a day i get a thud and it feels like my uterus is being kicked - I can pinpoint the place i feel the movement come from and it is short and sharp, and i can only imagine it is kicking. But she looked at me so strangely and said nothing more about it after that that it made me think maybe it isnt kicks I am feeling - I was sure it was cos it comes from where the baby is and i cant imagine my liver or kidneys or any other organs causing a short sharp flicking sensation like that?!?!?
So am I feeling actual kicks? And is it ok taht i havent felt any of the flutters that she was talking about?
