Because she wants to play during the day. And is distracted on breast.

DD is still having a good 2-3 hr nap in afternoon and normally 2 30min nap in morning.

I am feeding her every 30min-1hr in between these times. If we go out however she is happy to play while im out if im unable to feed. Its also more me trying to feed her this often so she actually feeds lol.

I much prefer demand feeding.

I asked my plunket nurse at our last visit about when to move to 4 hourly feeds and she said to wait until they are consistently sleeping through the night (not a happening thing at my house). She also said that because breast milk is easily digested, some babies stay on a 3 hourly schedule until they start solids.

I'd heard when they go through their 4-month growth spurt, its often a good time to move them onto a 4-hour routine. But should I just continue to feed on demand, and trust that he'll let me know if he can last longer between feeds?

My boy is very nearly 4 months old, but he was born a month early and so is lighter and skinnier than average for his chronological age. I don't want to start extending the time between feeds, or dropping a feed, until he's really ready. So what are the best, most obvious signs that I'll see when he is ready to do this?
