But if you try moving her routine forward by ten minutes a day, every couple of days, you should be able to get her into bed an hour earlier.

I know it's hard to fit in dad and daughter time but it may be a compromise for now, for you to get your day right.

And like all things baby, her routine will probably change again (and again) as she gets older!!

    Author: SquishysMum
Subject: 26943
Posted: 11 June 2009 at 7:21am

So, Lydia's a good little sleeper, she is regularly sleeping 12 hours a night now which is GREAT! HOWEVER, during the day, she only sleeps at home. If we are going out, she gets too excited and won't sleep at all (think 5 hours awake the other day! ). We're ok as long as she gets her morning sleep in (normally 2-2.5 hours).

So the problem is timing. If we go out at 10.30 for coffee group, she has to have had at least an hours sleep before we go, or gets miserable. What I would like is for her to sleep from 7pm until 7am, which is only an hours shift from now (8-8).

The problem is the evenings. I'm REALLY struggling to get the nighttime routine to shift! She'll be awake from about 4, maybe with a little cat-nap, but quite happy. So we feed at 4, change, play, watch mummy cook etc, DH comes home around 6 most nights, we have dinner, Lydia feeds again quickly and then through the shower with Dad, into nightie and then we snuggle on the couch for her to feed for about an hour, then bed for the night.

I guess the problem is that last long feed, I can't do it from 6-7 as DH has just come home, we need to have dinner, and he needs to spend some time with his daughter! Which is why I don't want to can the daily shower, it's really the only alone time they have in the day. But I'm afraid of not doing it, I know she's filling the tank for her long night's sleep, and if we don't do it, maybe she won't sleep?

So, after that REALLY long and rambly post, can any of you wise mummies share some advice about a new bedtime routine to try? Thanks.
