Babies, toddlers, and school-going children are bound to get their clothes dirty or damaged so they generally need more clothes compared to adults.Visit "Popopieshop" for a proper guide. How many do they exactly need, varies from child to child depending on various factors discussed below:
1)     Age
a)     Babies.
Babies grow very fast in the first year. So it is recommended to not buy a lot of clothes since they are eventually going to outgrow in months and won't get a chance to wear most of them a good number of times. So, you have to keep buying few clothes every month according to their size.

b)     Toddlers
They require several clothes since they tend to get them dirty and worn out. They move around a lot, so they need to be comfortably clothed. Hence, their wardrobe should be consisting of more number f comfy clothes than fancy party wears. Invest in toddler boy clothes and girls' wear specially designed to keep them comfortable.
c)     School Going
If your kid is of school-going age or in pre-teens, they need comparatively fewer clothes. As they don’t easily get their clothes dirty, and can also mix and match different outfits.
2)     Gender
Female children usually require more clothes as there are a huge number of styles like frocks, maxis, dresses, skirts, various types of tops, etc. While boys have a limited kind of clothing hence don’t have a huge number of clothes.
3)     Storage capacity
If you don’t have the arrangement of organizers at your home, it is unwise to buy so many clothes for your child. Either you invest in some good organizers or buy few clothes according to your necessity.
4)     Budget
If you can afford it, there is no reason to not buy many clothes for your child. You can get all colors and types without worrying about running out of cash. Moreover, if you buy cheap kids clothes from thrift stores or yearly sales, the number of clothes is going to increase even more.
5)     Laundry
The number of clothes your child has also depends on how often you do your laundry ad whether you own a washing machine or not because if you don’t, you’ll need more clothes for the child. And if you wash frequently, a few clothes would suffice.
6)     Weather
If you reside in a summery area, you would not require layers of clothes for your children. A few t-shirts, 2-3 pajamas. 2-3 pairs of shorts would suffice for a boy. And for girls, 5-7 summery frocks and dresses, t-shirts, shorts, and jeans should be sufficient for one season. Areas with coll temperatures require multiple layers of clothing. Jackets, outerwear, sweater, gloves, socks, etc. are all winter essentials. So if you stay at a cool place, a lot of your storage space is going to be reserved for your child’s clothes.
To conclude, there is no limit to the number of clothes your child needs. But it is always better to buy less as the clothes will eventually get smaller on them and then be wasted. So spend wisely, keeping your child's comfort and desire in mind. Visit "Popopieshop" for best quality and design.

The same sister eloped herself. Mum was pissed and one of our other sisters (the drama queen) was typically dramatic about it. But I know they will get over it. I really don't care I can't imagine our wedding any other way. I want it to be about us not everyone else. Besides they know our financial situation it would be irresponsible of us to spend loads of dosh on a big wedding. Plus my parents have 4 daughters one has been married twice so they have been there done that lol. Even if I had a million dollars I would still want to do it this way.

Have posted a few pics of the wedding dress in the twins thread. Farmers have adorable black tutus from the Y Mama Y range right now. That range isn't well-priced but I'm sure they're still under $50 each. Of course, if you find a good sewer you could always ask them to pretty please have a look at those ones there and see if they can re-create the look! Mess around with different ways of wearing them to get the look you're after... Ella wears two together and it looks mighty cool, but just the one little one looked a bit flimsy.
Wedding tuelle, the lovely really fine stuff, is blimmin expensive so it may pay to keep an eye on any tutus you see selling anyway. Try the Pumpkin Patch website too, or is it worth a trip to a PP outlet store? They have heaps of pretty princess-like skirts and dresses, and buying previous season PP stuff from them online can be really affordable. Even T&T have randomly sold simple pretty bridesmaid dresses. But it's Farmers with the best range of ballet-like ones, I think, if that's what you're after. hahaha, yep is was priceless, then while the vicar was blessing her, she kept farting (out loud! we were trying to contain ourselves) Oh and contain all her poop!

Good thinking on the tutu front - they will be super cute and don't worry about them running riot - you'll all be having an awesome day and with a lot less people you'll probably find that they won't feel so overwhelmed.

Bahaha Anna that is priceless!! I just know that somethings bound to go wrong with the girls. They will just be at the age no doubt at least one of them will tire of all the festivities quickly and throw a tantrum at the worst moment. Or get their pretty white outfits grubby. But I'm trying to not think too much about that! But kids will be kids which is why I want to keep their outfits so cheap. I'm now figuring that with the tutus its
1. A cheaper option
2. Can be worn again and used for dress ups/play
3. doesn't really matter if they want to get rough in them because they won't cost a fortune.

Can't wait to see what you come up with... We dressed Nova in a simple top & pants number (she was 3 weeks though) and she pooped right through the damn thing during the ceremony Thankfully her father was holding her!

Here is a pic of my neice at our wedding - had to cut her face out cos dont know if her mum would want me putting it on. The dress was from Kirkaldie and stains up in wellington but was only $85 and went from NB to 2 years. It has little embroided flowers round the neckline. The lady who makes them however is down south somewhere, not sure if kirks would give you the name or.....

But i do like the idea of the tutu's with little white singlets!

Haha Jess wanted a big wedding as well. However I always loved the romantic & intimate side to eloping. was going to do the big wedding for him but in the end we realized with 2 toddlers money just keeps getting tighter & tighter. It's the more conscience option for us. All that money is better spent on our kids. If we had gone with the big wedding we never would have been able to afford to make it a big by the book wedding so I think in the end it would have felt like a budget attempt at a "real" wedding and we would have regrets about it. I don't think I could ever regret what we have decided to do. Having an unconventional and simple wedding is a great metophor for us as a couple. I love it!
So glad I get to tell all you ladies about it too lol. I think I'd go mad trying to keep it secret for 8 months! Traditional wedding dress for me I guess when it comes to the clothes I want to do something right. Plus I love the idea of just sitting down, middle of the day in a crowded restaurant drinking champagne in a big beautiful wedding dress. My best friend Rachel who will be my maid of honor will just wear a standard little black dress not a traditional bridesmaid dress. Jess and his best man will wear plain suits similar to the ones pictured above. So I guess in a round about way I'm indirectly making myself star of the show lol! I was going to say farmers as well. when we got married they had alot of good stuff but they were all to small for my 7yr old girls.

And as you have mantioned that you are going to a reasturant all dressed up i think thats a brillant idea. when we got married we checked into the hotel and didnt have any time to change b4 the reasturant closed so we had no choice but to turn up all dressed up (minus the shoes for me ouch)

Yep, that's the dress I made... it was very simple so I have to say not much talent required SIL sold it recently which is a little sad (but I spose it was almost 6 years ago!). Oh I just love the idea of the tutus and singlets! It actually really fits with what we are doing as well. We want it to be kindda funky & fun. We are sticking to a black and white theme so the boys will be in plain black and white suits with skinny black ties (think reservoir dogs)
I will have the white dress my MOH will have a black dress and the twins will be in white. I like the idea of tying a small amount of black into the girls dresses as well. Like the last picture above. You can get them done really cheaply. I made our flower girl's dress for about $20 and she was 7 so needed way more material than your girls will need.



Keep an eye on PP and JK etc as they often have flower girl type dresses (eg this one, not white though).

TradeMe often has flower girl dresses but you'd be hard pushed to get two the same I think.

Your other option is a tutu or petticoat matched with a plain white singlet:



The pettiskirts can be pricey (they're time consuming to make) but you can get a very similar look with a tutu (like this one).

Here's an example of what I mean:



Actually, you know what? I'll have nothing to do but twiddle my thumbs between November and February... I'll make them if you want! ive seen quite a few dresses in farmers - when i was looking for one for our wedding they had a lot of smaller sizes (your size) but none for older girls - our flower girl was 10 and it was a nightmare - there was actually nothing at all even really expensive stuff. O.K. so I think its safe to share my secret here as no-one here directly knows my family or friends.

Jess and I as of a couple of nights ago have decided to elope in Feb. The plan is we are taking one friend each (no family it's too unfair) and our girls of course. We will be heading down to Wanaka in time for Rippon NZ music festival (where Jess proposed 2 years ago) We'll get fully dress up in full wedding attire and the day before Rippon, in the morning we will be married by Wanakas stunning lakeside. Then we will have a champagne lunch in one of Wanakas restaurants in our full attire no less lol. So no doubt we will get a few strange looks Then the next day will get to celebrate at one of our favorite music festivals. I'm so amped the more I think about it the excited I get about how intimate and special it will be....

So my question is what to do about flower girl dresses? The twins will be 21months in Feb and walking (yay) I want to get them matching white dresses but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for them! I'm hoping to keep both dresses under a hundred dollars as the budget we are allowing ourselves is $2000. It seems to be if you put the word wedding in front of anything vendors charge the price of a small country. Surely I can get something from a regular store for a fraction of the cost. Keeping in mind it will be pretty hot so it will need to be a summer dress.
