I got what I got and had loads of dauble ups when Zaara had her Hair cutting ceremony.....I didnt care. Its only close people who asked what I need and I told them and if they thought they could afford it they bought it for me. Yeah thats so rude! The gift vouchers are a great idea, and so is having a wish list/gift registry. If she wanted a whole cot set, she could list each item, so that people could buy as much or as little of it as they chose, and she could still end up with a matching set!

I would think that if the mum had made a list of things she still needed that they might circulate it and people could tick off what they would buy to avoid double ups rather than tell people what they were expected to buy. Yeah I hope that I get nice things for me when I get pregnant as, like you Jax, I don't like to rely on other people and would ensure that I was totally prepared.
For another of our friends, we all put in and got her a voucher to get her hair cut and coloured. We did that as she was so upset during her pregnancy that she wouldn't be able to afford to get her hair done. She was so appreciative of that.
I think those are the best kind of baby shower gifts. yeah well this is exactly what I thought, I honestly thought baby shower gifts were small useful for the things for mum and/or baby...not a $70 play gym!!!

I was not allowed to by any thing for bub before she was born (hubby's religious crap.....) any way so any thing and every thing I got for baby shower was good.

I do agree that mum's hardly ever get any thing! I got clothing vouchers (which I still havent spent) and some of those nice bath packs...(which still havent used)...he he ha ha

With Maya I never nested at all,a nd I carried high, and she was born early. I saw my m/w the day before I went into labour and even she was picking that I'd go overdue. So you really can't tell. Unless the head is sticking out between your legs...

Re: Hooded towels. They do grow out of them but newborns lose their heat through their head when then are before 6 weeks (i think) so the hoods on the towels help them stay a little warmer.

Nope, they never do stop. Blimmin other people and their opinions, grrrrrr. I'm seriously considering taking a stapler with me everywhere I go now, just in case I need it for throat shoving!

It is so stupid how people think our expanding bellies are an invitation for them to share their wisdom isn't it? surely they found all the advice and opinions and predictions exhausting when they were pregnant too, does this mean we are all going to become like them in a few years time, berating poor defenseless preggo's??!!
I've got an army of people telling me this guy is going to be early because I'm carrying low, I'm thinking that if he's anything like me he'll be late just to spite them

working on that theory this baby is due to pop cos she is so low I can hardly walk and I have been nesting for the last 3 weeks! I was told by my friend the other day how much easier boys are to toilet train than girls, hello I have never ever heard that before, its normally the other way round plus she doesnt even have kids yet, just her partners kids that are there every few weekends. lol yeah I reckon, make sure we dont buy too many of them hooded ones aye! grrr I dont know about anyone else but I get annoyed when people tell me "how" to give birth! I think the last thing im going to be thinking of is how so and so told me how i should give birth just cos they did it that way!! Like having someone pushing my knees to my ears?? Im planning on a waterbirth I told her, does she want me to drown in the process??

I don't think it really matters when you due, as long as bubs arrives healthy and safe who really cares if she is late or early. Xanda was low for the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy and he ended up being 5 days overdue. Now up for debate is my due date....spear headed of course by the most opinionated person in my office (I think we are all familiar with who I mean by now!).

Apparently I will be at least 4 weeks early simply because I've had bouts of nesting and have been carrying what she considers to be low (what I thought was pretty much smack bang in the middle to be honest but then what do I know!).

She completely rubbishes the fact that I've had friends who have carried low and been almost 2 weeks late!
