You gotta do what ya gotta do.
It's so much easier leaving them with someone who knows how to deal with kids. It was probably great for Josiah to be with someone like that for the first time away from you as well.

Well, the break from the kids was great!

Kiya behaved herself fairly well, other than her usual procrastination about going to sleep when someone other than Mum is there (she does it to Nathaniel the odd evening I've been out too).
Josiah however... it's the first time someone other than us has been there at night for him so I think it threw him out a little, plus he hadn't had enough sleep yesterday. We snuck out as Anne was giving him his evening bottle. She said that he was grizzly, and didn't want to settle. In the end she rocked him to sleep because she doesn't like to hear kids cry.

One of Nathaniel's collegues has offered to babysit for us tonight... she is also prepared to look after the kids when I go into labour.

Nat's taking me out for dinner... this will be our first decent length of time together without the kids since Josiah was born! We've had quite a few breaks from Kiya (when one or the other grandparents has looked after her) but we've always had Josiah with us. My bridesmaid and her husband looked after both the kids one afternoon a couple of months ago for two hours, but Nat and I had birthday shopping to do for our children so it wasn't really a relaxing break.
