I am on the DPB, and that includes the WFF and the TAS.

After rent I have around about $200 a week for power, phone, internet, other bills, food, etc.    It would be considerably less if I had to pay back a bond, which I have done in the past.   Thankfully my dad helped me out with that this time.

Soon though when my DP moves down from Auckland I will come off the benefit and we will have to organise WFF and accomodation supplement. No idea how much we are going to get.

Fattartsrock - the child care thing is my big whinge at the moment too! I had an interesting conversationw ith WINZ about it the other day. I can get a 3.26 subsidy for 9 hours if I don't go to work. If I go to work and do the 6 hours of work offered to me I still get the 3.26 but only for the 6 hours...hmmm.

DPB here not really sure what else I get as its all paid together. I'm studying full time and live with my parents. Could no way afford to live without living with them unless I stopped studying I hate having to rely on them but on the plus side I'm so stoked to be in a country who does actually support me

Yes, Emz, you are right, thats exactly what I meant. thanks for clearing that up, I should have been more clear about that I guess!

We do get 20 free hours(for one child), however, working more than the 20 hours a week that is free for one of my two children just isn't feasable, as paying childcare for one for those 20 hours, plus the extra for both just dosen't make it worth it.

It really annoys me that we can't get any other childcare subsidies as I have plenty of work I can do (and get offered) but paying childcare at exhorbitant rates dosen't make it feasable.

We were going to for the insulation, but it's not worth it for us, because we are doing it ourselves now and can't really deal with the wait. I think she means subsidised hours (outside of the 20 hours). And I don't think all daycares do it, only the ones that opt in... am I right?

We survive on $250 approx per week after mortgage and rates so not too different from you BuzzyBee (although I have DH to feed too ). TM is my best friend atm trying to sell all of Jack's stuff to buy him and the baby new (well to us anyway) clothes.

It's tight but hey it's what you do when you have kids. We get WFF, $95 a week. We don't qualify for the accommodation supplement because we have savings (not enough for a house deposit but hey!) but on the online calculator we would get $42 a week for accom if we had no savings. We get WFF, about $107 and I get a student allowance also. DF's job is commissioned based which is a pain, I hate having to deal with WINZ!

I guess there are alot of familys that have annual earnings above the threshold for fiancial assistance, though I think the more money you have the more expenses and dept you can have!

I don't survive, my Dad is having to help with the odd bill and often buys us food. I absolutely hate that fact that I've moved out of home and still having to depend on daddy dearest.Things are slowly getting there - i think it will be much easier to budget in the warmer months and once we have issues (with property) sorted here. Oh yay so I should be able to pay the rates before they are due- beginning of Aug.
Is perhaps WFF sent out alphabetically? Sometimes it sux having a surname that is one of the last letters of the alphabet. Anybody already have the letter & their surname starts with Z?

I think solo parents on the DPB should be respected admired & supported. No one really wants to be in that situation but yet they put their time & effort into their kids- its commendable!

Ohh been there done that when lucas was a couple weeks old coz of the Child support issue (his father p!$$ing off and not signing the birth cert) ...so I trapsed around to lawyers/court to get a statutory declaration to legally name his father so they wouldn't cut our benefit altogether, I take it to them and they THEN tell me I shouldn't have had to pay that much to do that blah blah.

No idea what the USCB stands for, but we get DPB, Accom Supp, DA, TAS and WFF. It comes in lump sum but they take out a huge chunk to pay back our bond and RIA that we needed help with when we moved, so things are a bit tight atm as we're left with roughly just over 150 to pay power, water, phone, contents, health ins (wouldn't be without it due to conditions) petrol, food etc etc weekly. I'm trying to sell a lot of our stuff on TM so I can afford to buy him clothes once summer comes around - DPB is not as glamorous as some make out to be, we all get paid differently depending on our situations (and just on a side note, we seem to be getting the lower end of the scale, even before my reductions to pay bond back etc) - no idea what im doing differently to other single mums i know lol.

I love being home with my boy, but to be honest I am looking forward to returning to work when hes a bit older, WINZ are horrible to deal with and the less I have to do with them, the better. EVERY single time I've applied for something, whether it be accom supplement, DA, TAS ...I always end up having to line back up in a queue with bank statements, and proof of bills etc because it hasn't been processed and debited into our acc when it was suppose to. we get nothing. To get accomm supplement down here our rent would need to be over $5000 (yes thousand) per week. The WINZ lady thought it was a joke. $146 is pretty good, IMO.
Ours is $145 (accom. supp and WFF together)

I think we may be owed a bit of extra from WFF, so it's nice to know summaries are on their way out

We get WFF, but it is only $146 including accom supplement. We get Temporary Additional Support and Accommodation Supplement at the moment, although the TAS will stop very shortly. we got over paid booohoo so have a huge bill even though we over estimated my husband's income and it was even stopped.
