I'm using real nappies & find them really good. I got them in the first place because they worked out a bit cheaper than the pocket nappies & you don't have to wash the cover every time. For me the pocket system was easiest for me to get my head around and was recommended by tons of people. I like how you can adjust them for absorbancy and drying time is really good too.

just looked at the real nappies and they are the covers with the prefold inserts. I get so confused with all this nappie lark! Its definately doable - we've had way more success using cloth overnight than we did with disposables.

My girls isnt a very heavy wetter, but she is a tummy sleeper. We use a flannel flat, then a hemp booster, then a hemp flat, all pad folded and stuffed in a "fitted pocket" which is something I made myself (basically a pocket nappy like a fuzzibunz, but with flannelette outer and microfleece staydry inner) then a wool soaker or wool longies (pants) overtop.

Hemp is definatley the way to go for overnight.

I use wonderoos at night which is a pocket nappy and I use the twon inserts u get free and a flat folded four times so its long and thin and thenfold a quarter at one end over twice so its thicker at the front. This might not work for a girl cos boys pee at the front so i have more stuffing there. I have only had 2 change his PJs 3 times. I just remembered the other reason why I switched back to sposies at night is because of the smell. (DOn't let that put anyone else off). Oh and Nikki re stuffing overnight... I use either 2 inserts and a doubler, or a microfibre towel ($6 from the warehouse) folded into a pad (= 6 layers) with a doubler, in a bigger xize Fuzzi (petite instead of medium). Don't worry, while we're wanting to use cloth nappies only there are several packs of disposables on hand and I will probably use them for the first week or so while I get my head around being a new mum! Gotta take pleasures in the small things... if you are responsible for the unpleasant duty of changing a baby around 7 times a day then at the very least it could be with cool nappies!!

(I guess I just meant that I don't know how much more I can stuff the FB with overnight. Deb... I was using a flat and a microfibre insert but it just wasn't cutting it. That was pretty much making her waddle with all the stuff that was between her legs.

Wearing sposies at night (while lazy) is cutting down my stress. I was having to change her during the night (pyjamas too). I'm happy living with the fact that I'm going to sposie user hell

I use Fuzzi Bunz overnight and the only times I've ever had to change a wet bed was in disposables... Heard raving reviews about Joely Pockets today. (From a woman who uses a mix of fuzzis and wonderoos also)

Anyway, what I really was meant to say was that my daughter was in modern cloth at night for quite a while with no probs! (So definitely not impossible)

I have recently gone back to using disposables at night because she started wetting a lot more and the bed and pyjamas would end up soaked. So instead of investigating more cloth options I got lazy and just went for disposables again. Don't take a lesson from me though! hey syd - i think that no matter what you use there will be leaks and linen changes... and i didnt think that real nappies did a pocket. as far as i was aware they are a prefold and wrap system. (let me know if i'm wrong tho cause i havent tried their pockets.)

Thats cool - thanks for all the advise! Its funny how people tell you what you should & shouldn't do. I figured that babies have survived for thousands of years without disposables so I'm sure it fine! I'm thinking of using 'real nappies' as they just look so easy to use. I'll be using cloth and I know plenty of people who do so and thier bubs stay dry at night. It's just a case of finding the right combo.

Which system do you use?

If you're using pockets a lot of girls I know use either 2 inserts or an insert, doubler and hemp. I have to say my boys are both in disposables at night, and still wake up wet. taine is often wet in the night and we change whole outfits, now he also weras fluffies which cut down on that, but jake is in nappies and will be wet, prob 80% of the time I have to wash his pjs, not too bad with the sheets though. Nope not impossible but you may have to change sheets at night time more than you would using disposables. Double them up, so fold two nappies together as you would fold one nappy. And also you get woolen wraps that you wrap around their legs at night and they absorb most of the moisture before it wet the bed. Gowns at night make it much easier to change bubbas nappy in middle of night.

Hi ladies, another question about cloth nappies. I have decided to go old school (although not too old, the modern versions!) with cloth nappies. Everone keeps saying to use diposables at night. I didn't really want to use disposables at all (although I could well change my mind!)so does anyone else have any experience with using cloth nappies at night or something to put in the way too hard basket?!
