We need to get a new one too since we came home from a weekend away to a wet kitchen floor. So much fun cleaning up. we are looking at an elba they seem to be good but we will get the most expensive one i think its about $1000. Have looked at other brands. whatever you get make sure you get one with a heavy door. We have a LG one that I got from Harvey Norman and its fab

Oh yes & the stuff you put in it to clean the dishes does count. The powerballs are definitely better but so expensive.

I like westinghouse too. Our fridge has been going strong for about 10 years now

I vouch for the Bosch mum just got as it was highly recommended by the staff and its very very quiet and well worth the money. We've had a Bosch for a few months now and it's great. Cleans pots, pans, everything. Was reasonably priced, around the F&P price range (think we paid just over $1000). We had heard Bosch was good, and so far it's living up to that name. We have it going while we're watching tv and hardly notice it. it also has the knife tray which is really handy.

I haven't heard anything good about the Elbas... Apart from the above poster, lol!
We "researched" appliances extensively while doing the kitchen and previously had an F and P dishwasher (it was ok, but was a bit on the small side inside for bigger plates so the arm wouldn't spin properly (as an above poster mentioned) and Westinghouse came out on top, and most of the retailers reccomended them as well. It is made by electrolux, which make great appliances. I can't remember if we paid $1100 or $1400,but its a fantastic dishwasher, I never have to rinse OR re wash! I also find using the finish powerballs good as well. So yeah, go westinghouse, I'd say. Got a westighouse double oven too, and freezer. We have an elba and are pretty happy with it so far. We've only had it a few months but the dishes come out clean and I don't have to wash them So maybe my comparison is biased - I hated handwashing dishes! It doesn't have any problems fitting things in or anything. If you have to buy one don't buy a nouvaeu (I think its from the Mitre 10 mega store) we have one and its crap!!!! Not only does it not wash half the dishes properly we can't even stand our (standard size) dinner plates up in it or the thingy won't spin (IYKWIM).

My Elba is driving me insane :S It's only a few months old, and doesn't do a flash job - I'm starting to wash glasses by hand. And I can't kiddylock it, so if I bumb it I have to restart the cycle. good idea! Wonder4 if they can do a load while they are there.
I know Norman Ross are doing 6 months deferred and 12 months interest free at the mo so am trying to work this out quickly, but will go into leader and watt and see what they have too.

I don't like mine LOL It does the bizzo but I find doesn't wash overly that well. It's a Dishlex Global 300.

The main reason I don't like it is because when you put the thicker types of plates in they fall forward & don't get washed properly.

two questions.

our dishwasher (which came with the house - westinghouse - was here when the last owners moved in, so would hazard a guess at between 5-10 years old - more likely 10) is no longer heating it's water. no idea why - not on eco mode so looks like we would need a repairperson in. Anyone had a similar issue? what was the result?


Looking on the net, looks like it's either controller issue (easy and cheap apparently) or element (not), so am also looking at the possibility of having to buy a new one. any recommendations? do NOT want the dish drawers - too expensive and it seems lots of repairs, something economical, heats its own water, and can fit enough stuff for a family of four.

recommendations (and prices if you remember)?
