When we try wake her food she is unresponsive and nothing is waking her up... but will see how she goes this morning, she might wake up and power feed again...

perhaps she is one fully content bubba alright!!

Ben was slightly prem, so all he did was feed and sleep basically! Felt like that for about 6 weeks before I could really get him into a 'routine' as such and then by about 12 weeks, he seemed to finally do his longer stretches of sleep at night. Seemed like forever at the time, but he did get there

My bubs had jaundice for about a week or two after he was born and I was told that he was sleepy because he was jaundice. The best thing for it was to flush it out by getting as much food into him as possible (and lay him in the daylight) but it was a silly cycle.

ETA: so we had to wake him three hourly to get that food in.

He kept falling asleep and only feeding for about 5 - 10 minutes so I had to keep him awake and feeding with skin2skin, tickling feet/face to stimulate that rooting reflex and cool flannel dabbed on forehead from time to time.

Not sure if it will help but there you have it.

Edited by MrsH

Novella was much the same, very happy and content, rarely cried and slept for long periods - contact your MW if she carries on like this and isn't feeding much, but yes some babies can sleep long stretches like that.. I remember freaking because in that first week she was sleeping 5-6hr stretches at times.

And with the day/night thing - all babies dunno what thats about
And my baby has never fed for long periods (I thought there may be something wrong because she never fed for longer than 10minutes, usually more a few minutes at a time)

OK, enough rambling - enjoy her Jolene, I'm really happy for you (geez, I haven't even met you IRL )

I had to play with my daughter's feet during feeds sometimes, she'd just get so dozey and milk-drunk that she'd stop sucking. Don't worry about how much sleep she has right now, give it 24 hours.

Im finding it hard to feed her, she will doze during feeds so I have to keep stimulating her to keep her awake. Once awake she is alert and quite calm, rarely cries.

Im wondering if maybe she has just day/night back to front or if there might be more too it? Does anyone else have this with their wee one, Ive only noticed most newborns being up every 2 hours or so and hard to settle...
