Glad you asked this Josica...Clodagh has been doing this HEAPS lately...and the whole chewing, crying, red cheeks has gotten worse the last day or so....I think she might be getting teeth although Plunket also told me it was developmental too. I would agree about it being a developmental thing. Caden started gumming things hard out at about 2 months old, like our fingers his hands, toys whatever really, and he even had the red cheeks and heaps of dribble, but he didnt get his first tooth until 6 months old.

I'm pretty sure it's just a development stage as they begin gumming a lot of things at that age.

Having said that, my DS started teething at 10weeks, but it was running naps/red cheeks/drooling, all the classic signs. Lilly got two at 4 months, she had 12 by 12 months.

it could be teething. Henry had 2 teeth around 3months cant remember exactly. I know he had four by 4months and eight teeth by 6months. He drooled alot but didnt get red cheeks or anything like that. Sam had his two bottom front teeth at just before three months old and I don't remember a lot of red cheeks or drooling, they sort of just popped up all of a sudden. I thought the same when my DD was about that age, she is now 8 months and still no sign of teeth but we got her an amber necklace and the dribble has decreased a lot. Might be - Lydia didn't get red cheeks at all when her teeth came through. She did bite down on things and drool when chewing for about a month first, then started drooling more often, then got quite grumpy for a few days. We never felt any teeth first - and we were looking really hard! It was just there one day, and the second one within the week.

ps - have only been chomped once so far, normal BFing hasn't changed. DS has started gnawing on my fingers when I hold his hands - not just sucking, he really chews quite hard with his gums. He also drools quite a lot while he's doing this.
He doesn't have red cheeks, or drool when he's not chewing. And I haven't noticed or felt any teeth yet... Could this be the beginning of teething? It seems a bit early??
