Just spoken to Koru and reservations.

Chances of an upgrade are slim, cause business is fully booked, although there are still 5 seats in premium.

There's still 20 seats in economy, so fingers crossed I'll be able to block a row.

I flew at 12 weeks & got the window seat, which sucked...I was stuck next to a lady who fell asleep with a wine in her hand

Hey,
I went to Japan at 20 weeks and while I didn't get an exit aisle I did get put in the bulkhead, on the aisle which was brilliant. I was beside a woman and her two little girls, but the extra leg room and being able to get up and down whenever I wanted was so great.

In comparison, I just got back from Fiji (just over 25 weeks) and I have never been so uncomfortable in my life - the flight was chokka, and they moved my husband and I over one (which unfortunately meant I was in the window) to let the standby passengers sit in the aisle. I should have made a fuss, but it was a little boy and I felt mean. But I paid for it - totally cramped and really hard to get up and down. If you tell them, they def won't put you in an exit seat, its against airline policy esp on an international flight.

However, if you DO tell them they may be able to accommodate you otherwise.

Lemongirl, I'm sure I can remembering reading something about being able to secure empty seats next to you if you're Koru Club. Can't find anything on the site though.

When we went over to Sydney the b.f got the row we were in blocked out. He is a Koru club member and the flight wasn't that full. I flew over to europe when I was 17 weeks and requested an exit row seat and was told no. I would definintely mention that you are pregnant and ask for an aisle, coz if the plane is not full then they may give you a spare seat beside you (that's what they did for me). the aisle seat was invalubale I was up every 1 hr to go to run to the bathroom.

I know when I was 7 weeks pregnant I had no energy to do anything!

Ask for an aisle seat.

Also, if you ask for a bulkhead seat make sure you're not between 2 bassinets ( on a 747 I think). We had a 6 month pregnant lady and her husband sitting between us as we had the 2 aisle seats that were assigned to the bassinets

Luckily for us all they were nice, we gave her an aisle seat and they helped look after the girls while we ate dinner.

I know you have to be 'able bodied' but I'm surprised you got turfed out an exit seat at 7 weeks! It sounds like they have a blanket rule rather than say it's OK up to about 15 weeks. Ho hum

They only put fit and able people in the exit rows. A lot of people that have had surgery or similar and want to stretch out ask for them and get declined. You will have more luck not telling them you are pregnant and asking to be seated there. If you're not successful make sure you get an aisle seat near the toilets though. I remember flying a lot with a baby sitting on my bladder and its not pleasant.

Well you see, the only thing is, if I tell them I'm pregnant and it's a really full flight I could end up in a super crappy seat

Maybe I should leave it to fate and if they ask specifically whether I'm pregnant, then I'll tell them.

I flew domestic at 34 weeks and they wouldn't put me at an exit but gave us a row (3 seats) to ourselves. Generally if you're pregnant they probably won't let you sit next to a fire exit since those people are theoretically meant to help in an emergency. But at 10 weeks I wouldn't think it would matter at all.

I'd definitely try for an upgrade though.

Hi there,

I have a flight coming up in a couple of weeks when I'll be 10 weeks 5 days pregnant. I've reserved a fire exit seat, so that I can move about easily, but I was wondering if anyone who has experience with airlines could tell me:
* will they let me sit in a fire exit seat at 10 weeks?
* do you think I should actually tell them I'm pregnant and hope for an upgrade? Factors in my favour are: I'm Koru Club member, single female traveller, already travelling in business class for the second leg of my flight to London.

If it's a quiet flight I may ask if there's any rows at the back which are looking pretty empty. It's good to be by the fire exit, but it's cold and next to the toilets

Any thought?
