Author: myfullhouse
Subject: 28289
Posted: 25 August 2009 at 12:33pm

Well I put Ben in the hammock after his first feed yesterday morning but he only slept 45mins and then was restless and grizzly till I fed him (so it was a 2hrly feed). I then put him in the bassinette in our room and I ended up waking him at 4pm as I was worried that he would wake in the night as he hadn't fed much! So he had slept for 3.5hrs!!

He is back in the bassinette again today and is sleeping well. So either he is over the growth spurt or the effect of the jabs, or he now prefers to sleep in the bassinette all the time rather than just at night.
So our current problem is solved for now. Roll on the next challenge

It drove me nuts, and for the last 2 weeks I have been keeping him up for longer after his feeds, and then resettling him if he doesn't sleep long enough (often I just take him for a walk). He is now back into a 3-4 hourly feeding but sleeps much less. Much happier too as it was really affecting his night sleeps, now back to sleeping through the night.

I kept trying the routine thing (up, feed, play, sleep) which isn't so easy when they don't sleep for long, but she did get over it, took about a week tho.

Good luck!

It is kind of reassuring to know it could still be a growth spurt or the reaction to the jabs. I don't eve remember Jack being like this. I am going to try him in the bassinette during the day tomorrow (he is in the hammock normally during the day) and see if that makes a difference.

I don't think he is snacking as he still feeds about the same amount as usual. The part that bothers me the most is the fact he isn't really sleeping.

It could be his jabs to or a mix of both. I know that first round of jabs for us was a miserable time for us, we had 2 weeks of upset. Hope you figure it out..

    Author: myfullhouse
Subject: 28289
Posted: 23 August 2009 at 4:11pm

I am demand feeding Ben. Up until the last week he has been feeding every 2-3hrs during the day, last feed at about 9/9.30pm and only feeding once between then and 6-8am. This was great and he was sleeping well between feds. He was only up for about half an hour (unless I was delayed in getting him down by doing something with/for Jack) as he would be tired quickly.

During the last week he has hardly slept between feeds during the day, sometimes only sleeping 10-15mins at a time then me putting him back to sleep. He has been feeding about 2hrly, sometimes 1.5hrly! The longest he will sleep is 45mins but not often.

Why is this happening? At first I thought it might be his 6wk growth spurt but it has been happening since Monday afternoon (or was it Tuesday? ), I am sure a growth spurt doesn't last this long, does it? I am getting him down when he shows tired signs. Mum suggested it might have been his jabs which he got a few days before this started.

Any ideas on why this is happening?
