wow, thats so reassuring, have had a pretty awful experience in the past and just cant face going through something similar even with having a lovely baby at the end of it to look forward to. I was worried as my "request" was on psychological reasons they wouldnt say yes, I will give it a go and see what they say.

If you have legitimate reasons for wanting one (even if it is psychological or based on past experiences) you can have one fully funded. I dont think there's any issue with having an elective c-section - I just dont think its funded unless there's a medical reason for it, so it could be costly.

Hi Everyone, I am about to face baby number 1 at the heady age of 41, due to some previous bad experiences I want an elective csection, however, I am a new migrant and dont know how the system works in NZ, can I just demand one or do I have to go private, how does this all happen in NZ, I am based in Auckland.
