yep dd used to projectile vomit alot !
Mostly was cause sh ewas a greedy wee thing but she also had a little trouble bringing up her wind so if not burped properly she would powerchuck .

Chloe projectile vomited after almost every feed, she hit the wall on the other side of her nursery once, from her cot. So yup, can go for metres!! Lol.

Yep they can projectile vomit for metres lol, when caden was little he did that once, I heard a all mightly gagging and he had spewed up his feed everywhere, like everywhere! but he wasnt bothered by it, just looked a but bewildered(sp?)

He probably just got a bit greedy and drunk to much, then his tummy went "nah!" and got rid of it.

Thanks. It seems he may just have had too much to drink - he had a bit of a suckle after then went down for almost four hours!!

And they can projectile vomit for like metres??? I though his was a projectile vomit and it only went say 30cm at the most.

LOL - i remember these days!  We had a few of those regurgitation episodes when Jade was a newborn. Usuallys occurs when baby has drunk too much, or mum's milk is very fast.  Don't worry if this happens occasionally but if it is more like forceful projectile vomiting(which flies quite a few metres at great velocity!) then contact your LMC or dr.

ok will i had this with both kids ......... is he in pain? is he coughing? lay him on his back and take off his top...if just under the ribs draws in ..........take him to docs and ask for referal to hospital........my kids had RSV which is broncilities but it goes to respitory virus (to put it simply) if he is drawing in it means he is stuggling to breath...nothing to worry about but he needs to be on oxygen.......its REALLY common..to us its just the flu.....if he is breathing fine no cold syptoms etc then it can be reflux..........keep an eye on fontinile (xcuse spelling) and wet nappiesif its in and his eyes are dry it means he is dehydrated......keep us updated................winters suck for new babies...........my girl has just come out of hospital and looks like we may go back in ....fun times]]> Tue, 01 Sep 2009 21:53:04 +0000 https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=28483&PID=763209&title=newborn-projectile-vomit#763209 <![CDATA[newborn projectile vomit : Was he upset about it? Was he upset about it? Generally if they chuck up and are not bothered by it, except maybe getting hungry again straight away, then it's nothing to worry about and is just cos their insides have never worked properly before so have some kinks to iron out. If however he is back arching, screaming, writhing, pulling his legs up or doing anything else you think looks like he is pain then it could be a sign of reflux and best to speak to mw or doc about that. Also if it's proper projectile vomit, like going meters and very forceful then that needs medical attention as well. Probably just a newborn trick. Just keep an eye out for fever or if he can't keep any milk down at all. Lovely huh.

Just wondering, Mr 3 weeks struggled to feed this evening (well seemed to feed okay initially then fought with the boobs and wouldn't latch on) and then started crying so we gave him some milk in a bottle then he managed to projectile vomit everywhere... more than I thought possible in his tummy.
