I would just keep persisting and make sure that if he doesn't drain that side fully that you pump it flat to make sure and blockages are fully cleared, you don't want the infection to come straight back as soon as you stop the ABs.

I had three lots of ABs wtih Spencer and noticed no difference, have had two lots with Kyle (one was for a cat bite though not mastitis) and he did fuss on the infected boob but that was because it was completely blocked up, took 10 mins with a pump to get it to clear, but he was fine from then onwards, noticed no difference when on them for the cat bite.

    Author: Mrs_B
Subject: 28517
Posted: 03 September 2009 at 9:39am

Hiya girls. I currently have mastitis, which I have been on antibiotics for 3 days and feel heaps better than I did although still feeling a little dizzy, headachy and shaky but anyhoo that's not my question! My question is; did any of you notice that Bub wouldn't feed well from the affected side? He goes on okay, feeds through the letdown and then starts fussing, screwing his face up, crying and pulling away, honestly acting as if I'm trying to poison him! So I switch sides and he's fine. I wonder whether although they say the milk is fine for them to drink whether it tastes different or maybe just that my supply has dropped on that side so he is getting frustrated???
