Yep agree with Littlebug. We smothered Alia's chicken pox in Nathuropharm Hypercal cream. She said it helped with the itch.

Cross fingers he doesn't get them too bad. Alia was bed ridden & didn't eat for 3 days.

I found the heat brought the blisters out faster. Sounds like how Chloe started out. It took about another 4 days for her to come out in more spots, she only had a couple to start with. If they blister and scab over then it's most likely chickenpox.

If he has a fever or anything associated with it then give him pamol... otherwise get some pinetarsol stuff from the pharmacy to put in the bath, helps with the itching. Also the pharmacist gave us some lorapaed which is a non-drowsy antihistamine, also helps with itching.

Our pharmacist said not to use calamine lotion (which heaps of people still use I think) because apparently it can cause scarring. Not sure if that's true on not but we just steered clear, Chloe seemed good with the pinetarsol and the lorapaed when it got extra bad.

Chloe was quite unwell for about 12 days with her CP but she had pretty severe fevers with it which I don't think is that common. well i'm assuming that's what jack has....3 kids in his class have had it in the last couple of weeks so was sure he was going to get it sooner or later.

he has a few small spots on his back, arms and lower tummy that look like the beginning of a cold sore or blister. they aren't in a cluster though, just 1 or 2 spread randomly. they weren't there this morning but were there when he got home from school.

so, will he wake in the morning covered? how long does it generally take to get over it? what can i do for the itching?
