My FIL is pretty wonderful too (they are a package cos for as long as I have know them they don't do anything apart kinda sweet if you ask me). They are always offering to help out and have just uprooted themselves to be closer to the family which is wonderful. She makes meals for the freezer when we are busy on the farm and paints and wallpapers. A very hands on Nana, and often tells people I am a great mum - so nice. She does not have any daughters so I am it! When I go there with thr kids I get a cup of tea and a pile of mags and get told to put my feet up - fantastic.
She talks HEAPS and occasionally I tell her that I don't agree and this is how we are doing it and generally she takes it on board - so I am really lucky, and same as you Jo I am most greatful to her for raising a wonderful son who is a lovely husband and Dad

Interest rates in the UK are virtually zero, so it is sitting in a high interest account here for them. We borrowed $4k to pay for installing a ventilation system, and have been emailing them to arrange a repayment structure.

This morning I got an email from them saying they would just wipe the debt as our Christmas present! Not sure if we will accept yet, but what an amazing offer.

Just last week I went and stayed with them in TGA while DH stayed up here. It was great, they took Harper on lots of walks and I got heaps of rest. MIL had a stack of magazines waiting for me when I got there and some biscuits and each morning they came in swapped a cup of tea for a grandchild. I miss them now.

Henna79 wrote:

Yeah sure she may put here foot in her mouth sometimes but I know she is only trying to help out and pass down her advise in love.

Yeah but even our own mothers can drive us batty sometimes.
