hmmmm interesting to know. our power bills at our new place have $150-$100 more then our old place

yep we did switch and are saving money! yay!
you just buy power in bundles as you need to or spend a certain amount for the month.
our power bills were $250-300 and now we are spending about $200

jack_&_charli - did you end up swaping to powershop?
Im a little confused with powershop - are there two ways to do it? one way like normal power company and just let it do its thing, and another way where you buy credits of power or something? We switched to Powershop in april and for the first month, we saved $50 compared to being with Meridian. Our bills over the winter have been larger this year, but it is also the first winter with a baby and me being at home for half of the winter. I haven't had time to sit down and calculate the savings over the past three months, but I like the fact you can update the meter readings yourself online and know how much you're using each day.
Our average unit charge has been about 19c of the winter and there is no daily fixed fee. I think it's great and it was so easily to switch. we switched from contact to mercury recently because the rates were cheaper, but our bills aren't really any different    

i've just got a flyer in the mail today about powershop and was wondering if anyone here uses them and what they think of it....not really sure how it works yet but if it saves us money, then i'm all for it!!

we currently use our major appliances at night (after 10pm) like dryer and dishwasher, water heats overnight and our rates are day 21.60c, night 8.36c and daily fixed charge 85.53
