I got DD a big fisher price Animal Play singing thing lol.

Was on special at the warehouse for $70. down from $120 i think from memory.

we went for a more practical present and got her a wooden table & chair set for her to eat her meals at. We figured she will get lots of toys from other people, so wanted to something we actually need.

The grandparents brought her a lovely old fashioned wooden rocking horse which was beautiful and she gets lots of use out it.

I've been eyeing up those mega block trucks.

Just had Jayes first birthday today! We got him a big yellow CAT truck that came with a bag of megablocks in the back. Half price at Toyworld $40!
He loves it and pushes it around because it's quite big. The trailor tips and it has a loading bucket on the front to scoop up stuff and put it in the back. We didn't get him anything else because he's too young to even grasp the idea of unwrapping presents.
It was rather hard restraining his father, however, who was lining up a pedal powered go-cart for $200!!! Had to have a serious chat in the toystore. It was like having two children I tell you.

When family and friends asked what he needed we told them to get him books as he loves being read to at the moment. His Nan and Pop are paying for some nice family/baby photos to be taken. He did get some "Little People" toys today that are really cute. I think Farmers have a good selection and there are heaps to choose from boat, plane, farm, roadworks.

Will go through his toybox tomorrow, which is not big, and retire any toys that he no longer plays with. We will give some away and keep some of the younger things for the next baby.

We're getting Jackson a block trolley - old style wooden one - that he can push around as he learns to walk. They're about $60 from a local toy store.

We got Joel a big wooden truck from a market. It had a lid so things can go inside, he can ride on it and push it around, they both play with it.

Bad parent alert - but we didn't really buy him anything

I felt I was constantly buying things when he reached a certain age or was ready for it and he didn't need anything in particular. We had his christening around the same time as his first birthday and planned to buy something special for that. Ok so the 1st birthday isn't far away and I really am clueless as what to get, the problem seems to be far too many choices.

I spent an hour or so in toyworld this morning looking at stuff and just don't know.
