Nice to know I'm not alone (although I have put myself in isolation this weekend!)

I'm keeping a REALLY close eye on myself and at the first sign of anything cold/flu like I'm be munching on the tamiflu. DH is happy with me waiting, if he had concerns I would have probably taken it. Feels like a real catch 22 tho.

Emachan - yeah, antenatal is now on the same night as yoga - I thought I might be able to do both, but needed to eat this week....I'll see how I go next week.

For now...I'm feeling good.

The potential risks to a mother and baby if they get a bad case of flu when pregnant outweighs any risks of the medication (that I read about anyway in all the info I was given).

I would also think, that if the 'natural' midwife is still OK with your sister taking it if she got symptoms, that would mean she's obviously OK with the affects the actual drug has so I would take that to mean that both midwives are happy for pregnant women to take it, they have just offered different advice as to when.

The fact that your neice has been tested for swine flu must mean that she has the flu anyway I'm guessing so if in your position, I would take them. Just my 2c though

(I was 38.5degrees before I took tamiflu)

I was a bit worried about it as I am in a high-risk job, so have had the discussion with the MW too. We decided that we'd do our best to avoid it, but if I needed it, then I'd take it.

I'm glad that (so far) its not a decision I've had to make. Fingers crossed both you and your sister are ok!

My wee neice, who has just arrived back from overseas, has just been to the doctors and been tested for swine 'flu! I have been hanging out with her and her Mum (my sister, who is also 23 weeks preg) all week. Lots of kissing and cuddles etc...

The Dr has given my sister and I both TamiFlu scripts. His advice is take it now. Our midwifes are offering conflicting advice. Mine is pro all medicines etc and says 'just take it', my sister's midwife is far more 'natural' and said only take it if you get symptoms.

What a nightmare - I feel I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't!

So, I have decided to wait and see - and at the first sign of ANYTHING to take the pills. But I would like to know if anyone else on here has faced this issue and also if anyone has actually TAKEN Tamiflu whilst pregnant.
