My boy only ever had 1 side a feed, so I would express off the other side while he fed, during the first feed of the day. Oh and its best after baby has been fed, or while you are feeding if baby only takes one side. I tended to express after most morning feeds as I had a bigger supply then. Yes, you are supposed to express after baby has fed. I always find I can express WAY more in the morning, and even at lunchtime.
