Author: KiwiL
Subject: 28955
Posted: 26 September 2009 at 9:01am

Jackson's got his top molars coming through, and I also think the bottom ones too. He guards his mouth and won't let me look or feel (part of his aversions), but when I do see his lower gums, they are SO swollen.

Is that normal for them to swell up? They look about double the size. He keeps getting a temperature and is utterly miserable. We barely ever give pamol as he's so aversive, but last night I had to and had a different baby on my hands after (although he still wouldn't let me put him down).

He's also not sucking his bottle - I have to squeeze the teat for milk to drip into his mouth. Is this something babies do when they are teething?

Sorry to threadjack with my questions Fiona!

My sister told me nurofen for children is better for teething than pamol as it lasts for up to 8 hours and works as an anti-inflammatory whichs targets their sore & swollen gums.

Hope he's better soon chic

Sounds pretty similar to how Fin was - pamol calmed her down,

I have looked around the web and found a lot of contradiction as to whether teething causes fevers or not . . . opinion is divided
