Jazzy - my son has been pushed over at music and also at our place or at our friends houses.

Most of the times the other mothers see their son push my boy over and will tell them it's not right and discipline them etc - so I don't feel the need to step in and say anything else.

so I just really wanted to know if there was anything I could teach my son to help avoid the situations, or at least land on his bottom rather than his head. Most of the time my son just thinks the other kids are coming up to "talk" to him - then all of a sudden they will push him over.

I would definitely let the kids that are doing the pushing know that it's not acceptable, and if they continue to do it then chat to their parents. I don't think that it's OTT at that age to be sticking up for your kid. He is only 18months old.

Caniry, what kind of situation are you talking about? play group? coffee group?

You can step in with out being too over the top. If it is the same kids doing it, talk to them...

Surely with enough knocks he will either learn to get out of the way .. or stand up for himself

Unless you take him away from each situation, I doubt there is much you can do to prevent stuff like this happening. Hi everyone, I’m a newbie here and have a question (probably the first of many!).

My son (18months) always seems to be pushed over backwards by other kids – now I know kids will be kids and falls are inevitable, but my son always seems to be the one singled out. My son is pretty quiet and just minds his own business and other kids will just walk up to him and push him over backwards – it has happened on two seperate occasions this week only! It absolutely breaks my heart seeing him being hurt :( It can’t be good for him falling on his head all the time. Does anyone have any advice on how I can help prevent this – without turning into a “helicopter” parent or ways which I can maybe teach my son to avoid these situations?
