Hey all

Still not seen any worms by torchlight and I have been putting her to sleep in her AIOs so she cant scratch.

I think it may have been an insect bite but i am going to keep an eye on this, and dress her in normal pajamas again tomorrow night to see if she does it again. (the previous scratches have just about healed now so will be easy to tell) I don't think it was scabies as cant see any evidence of this.

You probably know this already but if you're dosing her then better dose the rest of the family too plus do a hot wash of sheets/towels etc.

I watched a programme on TV last week about worming kids and one suggestion was to put sticky tape on the bottom and if there are worms some would be stuck to the tape.... gross but it could be worth a try... I would imagine its not very comfy for bubby to have some tape stuck to their bum tho. They also suggested taking a torch in and having a look.

Plunket told us that it doesn't hurt to worm your child as a precaution because they can get worms from playgrounds as well but when I went to our pharmacy, the pharmacist wouldn't sell me any of the chocolate worming squares because Livvy was under 2 and said it shouldn't be done unless they are showing symptoms. DS is in fulltime DC and it was recommended to us by our GP to worm him once a year (yip, it sounds like puppy treatment!) just incase. You can use the choc square ones like pepsi said. don't think it is a label or nappy as she hasn't been in anything different at night . . . and cant see any evidence of insect bites.

De-worming treatment for kids is pretty easy in the form of those little chocolate squares from the chemist. if it was worms you would see them, irritability is also a symptom.

Hey all

The past two nights, I have noticed that DD has been scratching herself on the back (just above the nappy) to the extent that there are nasty looking red marks. She has a skin condition that means she reacts badly to skin trauma, but it still looks like she has been having a very intensive scratch.

I thought it may be worms so (as recommended by the nurse i spoke to when getting her jabs) i went in with a torch last night and had a look around her anus for any signs of wormy life but couldn't see anything.

Just wondering if anyone else's DD or DS has done mysterious scratching at night and what it may be. I haven't ruled out worms entirely yet, but the nurse seemed to think if it was i would definitely see them (and the pharmacy medication says it is very rare in under 2s)

She does go to daycare so i am guessing she could have easily picked it up.

any ideas???
