Probably the same applies to a walker.

I have only ever heard negative things about walkers, like children using them to climb on to reach stuff.

Personally I would go for a excersaucer just to be able to keep them in the one place. And also keeping them safe form the older siblings - I imaging racing them around in the walker would be quite entertaining

Have you seen the excersaucer where they sit on the outside and can run around in circles? I hired one first to see if DD liked it and then bought one from Kmart for $100 I saw the same one at Farmers for $250??? It has been invaluable especially when DH was away and I needed to get things done. I only bought a new one, as all the TM ones were either crappy or too expensive in comparison plus we will keep it for the next baby.

Oh and the excersaucer is easy to move around the house plus you know they are going to stay in the one place so no need for having to go and get them all the time.

DS wasn't that into his jolly jumper but LOVED the walker. he used to scooter all over the house. We don't have stairs so it was all good to let him go for it (plus we have a tiny house).
He started walking at 10 months and didn't become a tip toe walker....
I borrowed a exersaucer off a friend and i think he found it boring cos he wouldn't stay in there for much longer that a couple of minutes
