Isabella could get her arms out of her wrap from about a week old, so now I swaddler her arms down first then put another wrap on like normal(thanks Lisa!!) works a treat and she has been sleeping SO well since.

Jo, Ive only just stopped using a miricle blanket with Floyd and he's 6 months   of course his legs no longer fitted but just layed him on the top of it and used the arm bit, I then used another wrap over the top of that!! He just sleeps so much better wrapped.  During the day he is fine in a pekemoe but wakes himself up at night.  Tried him in a sleeping bag last night and he woke giggling at 3am because his hands were free!! So long story short we may go back to swaddling!!

well our miracle blanket was a 'home made' one! ;) so probalby not 'exact' size as normal, Tyde was in it till about 5 months I thnk.
Here is another option for adapting your own blankets to something similar to the miracle blanket - might help :)

Sorry for the TJ but Gina how long did you use the miracle blanket for?  They say they're recommended for nb-14 weeks but I can't see my wee lad being weaned off it anytime soon (we tried and as a result I've been up since 4am).

was going to say the same thing at Shelt. We had issues weaning from swaddling as Tyde just did not sleep well out of the miracle blanket.. but kept escaping. Once in the Peke Moe he settled straight away and it kept his hands cosy too.
I think that if swaddling is working then don't change it, till you need to! I stopped last week (9.5 months) and switched Gabrielle to a peke moe. She has always fought being swaddled and the only way I could keep her wrapped was to swaddle her in a sheet. Despite fighting the swaddling she couldn't sleep without being wrapped so last week I took the plunge and swapped over to a pekemoe cold turkey. 8 months I think, I thought we would never be able to stop and then one day we just did, he slept so well swaddled it was fab, and then he just seemed big enough to not be swaddled and he still sleeps well.

ha, C liked to be swaddled til she was one ! I had to use sheets , she liked to be able to get her arms out tho

Chelsea started being able to lift her arms up while they were wrapped around 4-5months, so I changed to lying her on the wrap, then tucking it over each arm and under her bottom so she couldn't move them. But in the last month or so she started pushing herself up the cot to escape the wrap, so finally a few days ago I put her in a sleep sack (a pillowcase with a head hole cut out lol) and she loves it! (Oh we did try not wrapping her at all when she first started getting out of it, but found she wouldn't settle at all with her arms free)

My DD kicks her blankets off so she is in a sleeping bag, then I swaddle her up in the bag, she is 10wks and def sleeps better even though she an get an arm out pretty fast. We just stopped with Jake but his little hands are so cold, I kind of wonder if I should start again.... We wrapped til bout 9 months when he started fighting it. I've wrapped him a few times since then when hes been unwell too. Bizzy, Harry was able to get himself out of his wrap by day 2! Or maybe that was to do with my swaddling technique lol.

I wrapped him with arms in until 3 months, then with 1 arm out until about 4 months, and underarms until recently - so for about 5 months. I swaddled my daughter until 8 months - I think it's one of those things that you just follow your gut on, as every child is different. how long are you swaddling for ?

my bubs is 8 weeks old and still seems to sleep better and be more content while swaddled..

is there any guideline or ideas behind how long to do it for
