He is redoing the filling on Monday, it was on the side right next to the gum, he also took the mercury out of the top of the same tooth and redid that. So cos it was a bit of work he wanted to wait and see if it calmed down without redoing it, he said the hot/cold thing can happen after a filling for a while and that throbbing was a bigger concern.

How odd they said they wouldn't see under 10s, I took Spencer to my dentist and although he doesn't need them at the mo my dentist said if he ever does he can do them. I didn't get into how or whatever though as hopefully he won't need one.

I feel sorry for the little guy, I've had toothache now for many many weeks, had a cavity that didn't hurt but has hurt since the filling was done and after taking the wait and see approach I am gonna get it redone (dentist thought it might just take some time to settle)

With the foods I find hot or cold is what really hurts my tooth so maybe you could make sure that whatever he eats is a neutral temp, and also if any food gets stuck to the tooth (like the chocolate I ate earlier, ouchies) then that really hurts as well, so maybe nothing too sticky to eat.

So rang the dental clinic.

"we don't make appointments, just come in" - so sent Lewis off on a monday...not there.

rang again
"Just come in about 1, i will be there"
lewis goes again while jake is on school visit (same place)
"she's just popped out, should be back in five minutes"
an hour later
"sorry, she was called away"

So we ring dentists
"go to your local dental clinic"
"we don't take under 10s"

three messages left, none returned and it is school holidays
Taine is crying each time he eats because he is sore. but of course, clinic is closed.

So I rang the hospital who gave me the number of an emergency dentists in town

taine is sent home from daycare - basica;lly in sh*t loads of pain

go to the dentist today, who says he has a fw holes and that he can't do anything. he refers us to the hospital for it to be done under general. great, i think, not so much pain for the poor boy.

6-12 month waiting list!!!!!

Won't his teeth be worse by then and need taking out
"probably" says the dentist
"can we go private?"
"no one does it around here"

So, my child is possibly going to be in pain for up to a year!!!!!!

not believing the dentist, I rang the hospital to be told at LEAST 6 months, and then rang privately to be told that they only do extractions, not fillings (which i am trying to avoid)

The thought of him being in pain for up to a year makes me feel sick. the dentist said that the main cause of pain is an infection - which he gave us come anti-biotics for, so hopefully that will help, but what am i supposed to do? feed him up on pamol for a year?

Does anyone know ANYONE around NZ who does fillings under anaesthetic? I will pay!
