I agree with Melnel... your ov should be round cd19 because the average luteal phase is 14 days (count 14 days back from your af) no matter how long your cycle is.

Yup, always from the first day of your period hun. So if you have 33 day cycle then you would be ov around CD19 It doesnt matter when you should have gotten your period only when you do get it. So if your period started on Friday then thats day 1 no matter whether it was due the friday before of the friday after.HTH

Hi there, thanks for your replies.

My cycle is regular now but not 28 days, usually 33. Last time it was 38, although I felt it coming from around day 33 but at the time I was frantically busy and really stressed so I put it down to that.

I have had trouble with irregularity since coming off the pill but it has been regular at 33 days ish since May. Im on vitex now which I hope will help.

So now I'm confused, as I don't know when to expect ovulation. I know it would help to get ovulation predictors or a microscope but the whole process of TTC is getting quite stressful without those things so I am holding off for the moment. But I know they would help so may have to invest.

I guess what my question is is if you did have a regular cycle, and stress caused it to be late one time, do you revert back to your old cycle again or begin a new one based on the dates for the late one? Ie. do you always count from the first day of your period even if it was late?

I would say that the reason your period was late is because your ov was late or you didnt ov this cycle. Stress can delay or prevent ovulation... with that in mind if your period was a week late I would assume you ovulated a week later than normal (or perhaps not at all).



Just reread your post.. If it were me I would assume my cycle would return to normal and that it was a one off.... so as Emmi said, if your cycle is normally 28 days then yup you should ov around CD14

Hi there,

This month my period was about a week late, I think due to stress at that time.

Will my ovulation be 2 weeks from that date despite it being later than usual? Or should I expect it to be about when it normally would be?
