While I was pregnant mine told me that I would be closely monitored so I was well aware of this by the time I was in actual labour.  From memory I was monitored throughout the entire labour (& on the bed).  I was fine with this as I had no intention of going in the water (tried that with #1 & it wasn't for me).  Once I got my epi I was more than happy to 'doze' on the bed.<br /><br />It might pay to look at another MW if your one isn't entirely supportive of your choices...<br /><br />Good luck <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0"> ]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=17969">cuppatea</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 29158<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 09 October 2009 at 1:58pm<br /><br />Don't be overly put off by being monitored, I was told at my OB appointment that I would strapped to the monitor as soon as I got there and would be unable to move, my mw said that was ridiculous and what actually happened was that I was monitored when I first arrived for about 40 mins (would have been 20 but I was dehydrated and his heart rate was racing so had to wait for that to sort itself out) then all the monitoring I had was my mw asking me if baby was still moving until the epi went in and then I was monitored but that was ok as I could get up and walk around etc once that was in anyway. <br />I saw an OB when I first arrived who signed the consent form for me to have an epi if I wanted, then said hello to the new one at shift change 4 hours later and let her know that I had requested the epi and was waiting for the aneasthetist and then didn't see her again until it was time to vontouse him outta there and if I hadn't had vontouse I wouldn't have seen her again.<br /><br />A lady came in with triplets and she was only 26 weeks, so they were all far too busy with her and left me alone]]>

She did say the uterine rupture was quite bad so i think she has that in her head. Once in labour I didn't want to go in the water though. The only thing she said though was that the OB might want me to keep getting out to be monitored.]]>

Unfortunately she has been present at scar rupture and she only does water births if there is absolutely no complications.. she sees a previous c-section as a complication....<br /><br />Not sure how feel about this, in all other respects she will push for my VBAC, but she is not comfortable me even using the shower to labour<img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0"> <br /><br />Next time I plan to be at home for most of it anyway so will just be in the  shower/bath there....]]>

VBAC went very well. My c/s was cos of a breech so I had never laboured before, start to finish was 14 hours, with 2 hours of pushing. <br /><br />Not sure if that helps or not as it's a bit of a bigger gap than it sounds like you are hoping for.<img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0"> ]]>
