Depends, here. DH on his days off (of course), but he isn't eligible for sick pay yet (hasn't worked there long enough) and we need the money, so I either miss lectures/labs if I can. If they are too important to miss or I HAVE to attend, then I try to get someone else to help out (friends, family)... if no one else can, then DH has to get time off work. Its me, but I handle sick kids better than DH. he used to look after them when I worked in the weekends but I took time off during the week for sick kids. I used to save my sick leave for the kids.

depends - sometimes lew sometimes me. problem is, with being a teacher, still involves lots of work. And I have ncea classes. we are lucky enough to have both my mum and nana around though so often a sick kid will go to one of them.

I only work part-time, but its always me. The army don't give you much choice when you're a soldier lol

When I was growing up, it was always my dad, as mums job was more important in the grand scheme of things.

For us, when I go out full time next year, it'll be more or MIL (or my dad if need be). It was mainly me that took time off when both DH and I worked.
I had unlimited sick leave, DH only had 10 days.

But, since DH works shift work and often has weekdays off he would take care of Janaya on those days.

DP will take time off work to go visit his daughter when she is sick. DH in our house. He is in I.T. so can either log on through the remote network or just catch up another day. It's usually DH in our case. Mostly its me - hubby is self employed so sometimes (with arm twisting) he is able to be the one at home. I always feel like I get a bit of attitude of work if I'm away and last time I had my mum fly down to help!

Question for you:

When a child is sick who takes the time off work to look after the sick child??

For us as DH works shifts (4 days on 2 afternoons, 2 mornings, 2 days off) so if a child is sick and it is his day off he will look after the child or he will have them around his shift and then I will go home to look after them. My boss is really good with me taking time off (very strange for the army) for my children, but he does have a few so totally understands children issues.
