forgot to add it's middlemore hospital, but i think all hospitals are under pressure to push for vaginal births

my appointment was changed from monday until today. so just had it, it went really really well had a different OB as you just get whose ever on.
He hadn't a clue about my background which was ok because he just LISTENED to my whole history. I explained everything to him and his collegue. They both said they would never recommend a VBAC the risk is too high. That a C section is the only option for this baby and the next.
So happy
I really felt heard and understood and listened to.
So baby's birthday is 26 november 09 yah!

or if i go inot labour they will do an emergency c section as soon as.

I think the other OB was under orders to get the c section rate down and i was the unlucky one she tried with!

Was NSH milo??? They are under HUGE pressure to get there section rates down and I have heard that they are being really strict on electives.

No excuse really but wouldnt surprise me if thats where it was.

We had incredible problems the first time round convincing them to give me a c-section due to my clicky hips and back problems! OB just wouldnt do it. Turned out I had to have an emergency anyway for not dilating, but I tell you what, if he doesnt give me what I want this time round, I will be screaming bloody murder until they do it. Sure it costs them more money, but this is OUR bodies they're dealing with. If you have a medical reason then there should be no reason why they shouldnt do it.
When you meet with the OB, make sure you actually go thru the notes with her and explain what she needs to know. true i suppose...... but it is all on my file and in my notes for this pregnancy. I suppose they are just rushed and don't have time to read each person's individuals files, that's the problem when going through the public system i guess., you see different people all the time.

i wouldnt get too angry at the OB.   Unless you or your mw had previously told her about your hip history she wouldnt have known. I had a chat with my GP today visited her on an unrelated matter, but chatted about this and as you guys said OB's do encourage VBAC for everyone and this particular OB doesn't know my history or anything and has no clue about hips, pelvis, bones e.t.c.

I think i was just offended by the OB and taken back at the mention of a VBAC and the force of her opinion she even said "there are people who need a c section more than you"!!! that's when i got emotional how dare she! trying to down play my history, has she had 4 surgeries, countless stays in hospital, major pain , major hip reconstruction. I think not!!!!

and with being emotional (those preggy hormones!) I wasn't assertive.

As my GP said i have to voice my concerns about why i can't have a VBAC and be an advocate fro my self
and now i'm ready! Watch out Ob on Monday!

Yeah mostly they do like you to try for a VBAC if you can, but in your case I think it is ridiculous and if she had read your history she probably wouldn't have even mentioned it.

Good luck with your next appointment, I would just point blank tell them you will not be trying and if they disagree then as toniellis said, ask to speak to someone higher up. Generally VBACs are pushed for but geez it sure sounds like your OB has no clue as to your previous history.
Since you have already had a c-section & for a very good reason, then you should have no trouble having another one.
Just be firm & if they argue the point then bring up your medical history & the reasons why you had your first c-section. Then if they still argue then request to speak to someone higher up.... It IS your right to do so.

I was under the impression that once you've had a c-section you can opt for another?? Especially if they were complications first time round.
And in your circumstances i'm suprised a vbac was even mentioned.

Had a postivie fanastic birth experience with DS1 via c section. With DS2 to be born in about 3 weeks time. I'm not sure how it's going to go, as my last visit the hospital OB was really pushing for a VBAC. Horrible she knew nothing about my past history!!!

this stressed me out as i want to have a c section
( long story.. but basically have had major pelvic surgery bones removed to reconstruct bad hip surgery done years age but have osteo in hip so not in good shape!)
So a VBAC is not possible.! Haven't seen my bone specialist in 9 years so no recent x rays ot anything.
but c section was recommended for DS1 as a saftey issue didn't want to rapture pelvis, discolate hip and baby get in serios trouble.


Anyway have appointment on monday wil be 36.5 weeks preg am pushing for c section.

Has anyone esle had pressure to have a VBAC?
