So you could be effacing, I think that is what it is called, where the cervix thins out before you start to dilate, cos that can happen weeks before hand.
The other tightening, hard feeling would be BH they generally happen all over the bump or high up and real things happen down low.

I remember that when I started having false labours it was period type pain with the ache going down my legs as well and then with real labour it just got worse and my waters went as well so I knew it was real.

    Author: mamanee
Subject: 29732
Posted: 04 November 2009 at 8:25pm

Over the last week or so I've been getting period pains that come and go but nothing regular or exciting about them, they are exactly like AF cramps and last about a minute and then go away.

I never had any labour symptoms with Sam as he never engaged and then turned breech at 37 weeks so I have no idea what to expect or what it feels like for a baby to get lower into the pelvis.

Do things start like this? I've got no idea whether I'll go early or late or on time, but I feel like he has dropped over the last week so hopefully he will come around about his due date!

I *think* I've been having braxton hicks on and off where it feels like he is pushing really hard over a large area, almost as if balling up, but these period pains are starting to get ever so slightly more ouchy each day.

I've forgotten what my question was, but do period pains mean things are gearing up down there?
