we always bulk the portaot up when using too....I fold a duvet under the sheet to make it more comfy and i always used the monitor still....

we took Rhyley away at 4months till 6 months to the UK and he only slept in a portacot and hes all fine.

A friend of mine had her baby in from birth to a big kids bed! She has no problems.

we had aidan in a portacot for about 3 months so I don't think 7 weeks is long term

I don't consider 7 weeks while on holiday long term - I think that's just what they were designed for! We had Callum in the P&T traveller for 4 weeks while we were back in NZ recently and he slept really well, it wasn't a problem at all. The only downside of that particular cot (IMO) is that it's right on the floor and in cold, drafty houses in Wellington and Chch it wasn't really ideal.

I don't think it will be "bad" for her hun. Loads of people use portacots long term for loads of different reasons. I dont see the harm? When they are little they seem to sleep anywhere.

I hadn't thought anout it until reading a thread in the preggy forum.

We are going to be away form home for 7 weeks and plan on having DD in a portacot for that time. We have bought a brand new phil and teds traveler as we will be travelling a bit so was nice and handy.
But, now I am concerned about DD not being in a proper bed.
