Query, if there are children in danger then the family must get together & sort out something to keep them safe & do it now.

I think it is better in the long run to have children placed in a safe environment that in the morgue.

Hi if Cfys have been notified they will do an investigation to find out what is happening and to what extent it is effecting the children. They will look at support networks etc.

Have you actually been told the children will be removed?

If they are removed Cyfs will always try to place within the extended family before placing in foster homes. An FGC will be held and the family will make plans as to what will happen. Sorry to hear your family is having issues. My partner is in family court at the moment and the process just suchs.

In answer to your question.

1. In general CYPS won't take children out of the care of family members unless there is a concern about their care and well-being.

However in cases of severe parental disagreement they can assume guardianship of the child. In the cases I've known through work, they've always tried to place the kids with extended family. If family steps in and takes the children now while the parents sort things out that would help bypass CYFS and keep the kids together.
They generally only step in if theres an issue with the childrens care and the family doesn't have a support network.
When me and my ex split up there was domestic violence issues and CYFS was sent reports and stuff by the courts so they were up on the play JIC anything happened. I had full custody and of course the issues were on my ex's side not mine so we were fine especially as I was able to prove that baby was safe, healthy and I had a support network of family helping me out.

I need some advise from anyone that has had any dealings with CYFS or some knowledge of the process.
Obviously I cant go into too many details - but we have some family members (not immediate or close) whose marriage split up some time ago and its still very volitile at this stage. There are children involved and the court process is underway but being dragged out by lawyers, and other issues.
There is now some concern that CYFs may step in and take the children. My question is - if it comes to this will CYFS keep the kids together or will they likely be split up. Will they try to place the kids within the extended family first or will they go straight into foster care?
Obviously I am hoping that this isnt going to happen - but just wonder if anyone has any experience in these situations?
