OMG - I'm so glad I found this thread - I literally, just 10 mins ago, have been having the same problem!

We're away on Sat too and I thought I'd try DS in it for a couple of day sleeps first - but ol' blondy here couldn't figure out to get the sides up either!

Yeah I think they are all like that - pull the middle of the base up and you should be able to lock the sides. The only way my portacot will lock is if the base is bent. So we have to put the sides up first, then push the base out. Hi, I've borrowed a BAM portacot  to take away this weekend.  I thought i would put it up and use it for Floyds day sleeps to get him used to it. 

I'm having a real blond moment and cant work out how to get the sides to lock if that makes sense!! I can feel a button type bit through the material but I'm not sure what Im doing wrong as I cant get them to lock into place.

I've emailed the person I borrowed it off but she hasnt replied as yet
