My son is 21 months and has had repetitive ear infections (about 8 since birth) and my MIL said my Hubby was the same. He had everything ear infections and clue ear as a child and they recommended grommets my MIL didn't realy want him to have to have grommets so looked into other things that can possibly fix it and vitemin A was what she found. She loaded him up on vitemin A and continued giving it to him for atleast a year it cleared up everything and hes never had an ear infection since. It seems to be working for our son too as hes been taking karicare vit c for about 3 months now and hasn't had them flare up again at all since. Its worth a try right?

Rolling into summer should hopefully help. I have no concerns over Tom's speech and hearing. He is speaking better than most of his three year old playmates and copies words off me with perfect pronunciation so he is hearing ok. James is too young to tell...but I swear he tried to say "cuddly" today when I pointed to his cuddly and said it myslef.....it sounded just like that ad on TV "cuggely"

She got grommets at 11 months (health insurance). Such a simple operation, but it makes the world of difference. Bella has not had ONE infection since the grommets and I've noticed her colds are not as bad as they used to be. Hers are still in place, so there haven't been any problems in over a year

Tom has only ever had the one (AUgust) but James had 2 or 3 and I think this is 6-7 weeks after the last infection.

The doctor checked them and to look at they looked good but the tympanometry (sp?) showed glue ear in both of James' and in one of Tom's.

She is taking a wait and see attitude at the moment which is good but I would like to know what other people have experienced. When did you need to get referred? when did they need grommets? what was their behaviour like?
