I just had that feeling. So much so that I was drawn to everything blue in the shops and I wasn't interested in thinking of girls names. We had 'his' name picked out and everything... Conor. My family were also certain it was going to be a boy. Then we went for the scan to find out and alas, he is actually a she! I just kind of stared at the screen for a bit. If it was actually a boy, I think I would have cried but our hearts sunk when we found out its a girl. Only took a few days and I was out buying all the gorgeous pink stuff I could find and dreaming up dolls houses we are guna build for her when she is older and got really excited about girls names. DP was dead set on wanting a boy but I think our wee girl (to be named Isla) is going to be a real daddy''s girl, he loves her so much already and she isn't even here yet! So, like everyone else has said, it might take a while to get used to it but when you start bonding with your bubba, you just wont imagine it any other way

The week before the scan I suddenly was 100% positive I was having a boy - I am not sure if perhaps I was setting myself up to not to be disappointed. Sure enough we are having a boy!

I had a tear in my eye when I rung to tell my Mum. My Mum was very sweet and although I didn't show that I was disappointed, I know she could tell. She said that boys are wonderful - they look after their mummies very well and it is great to have an older brother to another sibling one day. She also said that we would be broke if we were having a girl as I would buy every little girl outfit in sight!

As everyone else has said - I now wouldn't want it another way! Lots of people have said - wouldn't it be nice to have a girl next time round so that you have one of each - the honest truth is that I don't mind one bit whether we have another boy or girl as I know you love them just as much either way.

Edited by monkey33

Me and my partner had our fingers crossed for a girl but as long as bubs is healthy thats all that mattes. After the scan i felt like i was a bad mum as i felt like i had no connection with our little fulla being a boy and not a girl, i know i shouldnt feel like this, but for some reason my mind cant help it Has anyone else ever felt like this and if so how did they overcome it ? We also found out that i have to go back for another scan around weeks as they think he may have a kidney problem were when he goes for a wee some of the urine is staying in his kidneys, they said if he does still have it then it can be fixed with one week or so of antibiotics and he shouldnt have it ever again, so fingsers crossed it goes away
