We tend to just leave him to it now and he has worked out how to get himself to sleep. However we do at times have to just sit with him until he sleeps.

glad to hear its only a phase - now waiting for the standing up one...

I've just been going back in every few minutes and giving him a cuddle and lying him down again. He woke twice during the night last night, but not cause he was uncovered, I hope he doesn't do it again tonight!

Now that I know I'm not the only one and it does get better it makes it easier to deal with, he's just started pulling himself up on stuff at the moment too so hopefully he'll get that nonsense out of the way soon!

Ali, jeepers please don't scare me like that lol.

I've taken to holding DD (9months) and cuddling/rocking till she's almost alseep during the day and then putting her into the cot. I now put her in a sleeping bag which i prefer to the safe t sleep.

Just make sure the room is warm & your ds is dressed warm enough & put a blanket over him when he falls asleep

Cam is doing that too! I usually have to hold him and cuddle him to sleep during the day, once he's tired out enough! Night times aren't so bad, he's still waking once or twice a night, but he's always done that.
And Cam is in a sleeping bag (albeit a homemade, loose one), and it doesn't stop him, he just gets it twisted up!

Apparently its just a stage, once they've mastered the skill (e.g. crawling), they normally go back to normal sleep patterns. I really hope so!

I had thought about a sleeping bag but we just can't afford one and the one that we do have is too hot.
It means he's not having hardly any sleep during the day and nighttime is taking forever and I usually have to get him up again and feed him etc and put him back to bed by which stage he's so overtired he'll usually fall asleep while feeding.

How can I get him to go to sleep? He was sleeping thru but now he'll occasionally wake during the night and/or wake up at around 5am, It's really doing my head in.
