I've always had the change pad in there so she is very used to being in there...just not for sleep.

I put the hood of the bassinett on the side of the cot so she could still see her usual view + did the same things you did Madiandme + she is still wrapped (like she is in straight jacket in fact as that is what she likes). She also has a CD that plays so she should know it is sleep time and feel secure...but obviously a small glimpse of the top of the curtains is just too much for her...rolls eyes!

I've put her bassinett where the cot usually goes and she has at least gone to sleep though it took a long time and plenty of tears. What a sensitive petal huh!

Do you think I should do it gradually or just put her in the cot and deal with the meltdown? We hope to go away at Christmas time but based on all this I'm a bit scared! Maybe I should put her in the portacot now to be sure she'll be ok when we go away and deal with the proper cot after Christmas?????

Ooo tough one!
When I changed Madison to her cot I weaved her bassinet mattress though the head of the cot, and placed a queen sheet under the mattress and draped that over the side bars so it was like her bassinet
I think letting your bub play in their for as long as possible a few times a day is a great idea.
I still do this with Madison as it reinforces the idea her cot is a happy place.
Just be sure to take bubs out as soon as it stops being fun..

what about wrapping her?
she maybe finding the cot 'too big' and some baby's get scared of the cot because of this,
you could also short sheet the cot so she is in like a cocoon

Gabrielle was my hard baby and yet she didn't even notice when transitioned into the cot. Ashley on the other hand....argh!

She is almost too big for her bassinett but I can't get her near the cot. the bassinett is on a stand so I've taken it off and put it in the cot...but she won't sleep! The hood is up on the bassinett just as per usual.

How do I do this?
